== Introduction ==
A black mark on Eden’s world history, the ‘Plague of Rot’ aka the Rotting Plague’s true origin is unknown, but its first outbreak can be traced back to the northern fiefdoms of Hadriana in the year 1506. The name “Rotting Plague” originates from its symptoms. The disease was spread through direct contact, but it could also become waterborne, therefore infecting plants, and livestock. Later in its lifespan it became airborne as infected bodies were burned. Those who were infected had their limbs and organs rot out from the inside over a period of eight days.

A decade has passed since the five year long pandemic, which decimated all race populations to where they are today. Even now, many nations are rebuilding, while others were wiped out entirely.

== Infection Cycle ==
The ‘Rot Spores’ as they are colloquially known, rapidly break down their host’s body for protein and nutrients, resulting in gruesome side effects such as necrosis, loss of limb function, and organ failure. Sometimes in the late stages of the disease, the host’s lungs degraded to a point where the host began to cough, resulting in the exhalation of Rot Spores. Necrotic tissue within the infected organism also produced spores in the late stages before its death.

The methods of infection include direct skin-to-skin contact, ingestion of contaminated food/drink, and later on airborne spores and cremated remains of infected. Both fauna and flora could be infected by the Rotting Plague, so even though the Elves were directly immune to the disease, their crops and livestock were not, which resulted in widespread famine.

Both plants and animals were affected by the plague, livestock in particular, which included chickens, pigs, sheep, cows, and even horses. The livestock would suffer symptoms very similar to their human counterparts, wasting away one day at a time. Given their close proximity to one another, and the rapid rate of the disease, entire herds were wiped out in little more than a week.

Meanwhile, a select few animals were asymptomatic carriers such as fish, insects, and rodents. However, rats reacted differently to the plague, showing minor symptoms of the plague, while also exhibiting traits and behaviors similar to rabies. Infected rats formed massive hordes to search for food; which was everything. This included the humanoid inhabitants of Eden, especially unattended children. While still unexplainable, the rats showed aversion to fire, magic, and large bodies of water.

=== <u>Symptoms:</u> ===
Symptoms of plague mainly firstly hidden, as the "rot" formed within the body before radiating outward. This made it difficult to diagnose early enough to quarantine, as its trademark symptoms only show up during its later stages. In its early stages the plague takes on the symptoms of the cold or the flu. The life cycle of the disease was on average eight days. Conveniently, the stages of the infection can also be measured by days.

quoted from Scholar Erinae Lazaru’s “''Ruin & Rot''” study of the Rotting Plague:

''Name: Terrence Umber''

''Race: Attian Human''

''Age: 37''

''Presumed origin: Touched exposed corpse of infected individual.''

====== Stage One, Day 1 (24 hours since infected): ======
Host retains motor function and is cognizant, but complains about congestion and aching pains.

====== Stage Two, Day 2 (48 hours since infected): ======
Subject is bedridden with a high fever, sweating with chills. Mild skin irritation around the skin folds and cuticles. Subject is somewhat delirious but was able to confirm congestion and muscle pains.

====== Stage Three, Day 3 (72 hours since infected): ======
Fever has broken and the subject has regained cognitive function. Beginning signs of paronychia around the skinfolds/cuticles, with skin irritation traveling up the limbs and appearing around the torso. Subject continues to complain about congestion and muscle aches, but less so than the intense itching/burning of the irritated areas on their body.

====== Stage Four, Day 4 (96 hours since infected): ======
Subject has lost body fat and remains cognitive but is in extreme discomfort. “Feels like I’m covered head to toe in fire ants that think I killed their mother.” Welts have appeared on irritated skin, the itchiness has been replaced entirely by a burning sensation. Pus has accumulated around fingernails. but no longer suffers from congestion or muscle aches.

====== Stage Five, Day 5 (120 hours since infected): ======
Subject has lost more weight and become an infectious carrier. Subject’s welts have developed into large collections of boils, which leak pus (which can be infectious). Signs of gangrene have appeared on fingers and toes. However the subject reports that the burning sensation has stopped with little discomfort, and that he has no appetite. Upon testing reflexes and pain response time in other areas, the subject reports little to no pain. Subject has small cough. Given the frequency of these symptoms, I propose that the nervous and digestive systems are the first to degrade.

====== Stage Six, Day 6 (144 hours since infected): ======
Fat in the body is nearly gone, and the subject has difficulty with his mobility. Rot has spread to his muscles, leaving blackened splotches beneath intact skin. Boils have burst to reveal severe necrotic damage below the dermis. Once more, the subject reports no physical pain, although he shows emotional distress at the sight of his body. Brain still mostly intact then.

Some reflexes also remain intact, such as to cough, which has become far more severe. What comes up in a mixture of phlegm, blood, and dislodged degenerative lung tissue. Cough is likely to contain living Rot Spores, so avoid.

====== Stage Seven, Day 7 (168 hours since infected): ======
Subject is completely emaciated, and severely cognitively impaired. Motor function is all but gone. If speech is attempted it is greatly slurred beyond understanding. Necrosis is visibly spreading across the body, revealing blackened blood vessels visible beneath the skin, which begins to flake off. Coughing has lessened in intensity, but yields even more debris and spores than before. Subject is alive, but smells like a several-day-old corpse.

====== Stage Eight, Day 8 (187 hours since infected): ======
40% of the body has rotted away due to necrotic damage, leaving bone exposed to the elements. The subject is unable to respond, and is motionless. Sensory input seems to have been severely damaged. At 187 hours post infection, the subject stopped breathing, and his heart stopped.

== Survival ==
Only in 10% of the case can an infected host be cured by magical means before reaching stage six. This magic came from the elements of Earth and Water, which held the most healing spells. Yet, using these spells on plague victims was hard, barely even curing the infected and merely staving off the symptoms. Alchemy was also used as a way of healing the bacteria. Yet, none of the alchemic recipes or results of their use survived the plague years.

If the host survived, which was most unlikely and extremely rare, dead portions of the body: arms and legs would be amputated. Some would be so damaged they would be unfit for use. Death could eventually occur due to internal organ damage thanks to the effects of the rot.

If the host survived all these things, damaged skin tissue by the rot would heal, leaving large scars. If people lost their eyesight, this would not return, and you would forever be blind.
== '''Introduction''' ==
The Scions of Illumination, as the Azari’cill call themselves, invoke this name because their existence reflects the pinnacle of civilization under the Mother’s wing.

These luminous beings have blood that glimmers by magical properties. The glittering spires of the Azari cities stand like beacons in the lands where skill and enlightenment saturate the very air. The Azari’cill absorbed so much of this innate potential that when at war, it is said that the phalanxes of the Azari warhosts glow with robust power. An assault by an Azari’cill army is swift and carried out with flawless precision. The enemy is met with a forest of blades and barrages of elemental wrath.

This claim of mastery also carries a deadly arrogance. The Azari come in glory, but they hail from a broken land, their elegant spires toppled and their statuary crumbled into the dust of a dead empire. The stories tell that it was the scourge of Fineall that ravaged the lands of silver; it was unavoidable. The age of the fallen spires has turned the empire of enlightenment into a spell-haunted ruin.

Ever since the Time of Reinvention, the Azari’cill have managed to make peace with the lands they call home.

== '''Culture and Society''' ==

=== <u>Modern Elven society</u> ===
Modern Elven society is centered along the lines of progress and purity. All Elves are part of a bigger whole and no Elf is more important than the progress of the nation. All this is done because the Elves of Aerial know that when they reach the highest, most pure levels of existence, clean of their flaws and impure cousins, only then will the Elven Pantheon of Gods return to Eden to guide their people.

Every Elf is constantly trying to improve him/herself, always trying to be the best of the best. Elven life is split between constantly learning and improving yourself and excelling in your craft. Whether it is Archery, swordsmanship or being a scholar teaching the new generation, all lives are valued equally in Elven society as long as you are trying to reach the most enlightened state of existence.

Since the Elven race is flawed from the very core, they need to reinvent themselves. The Elves need to be reborn into a more aware being that will be able to see the magic that fills the air. Which will, in turn, help them reach opportunities once seen as impossible to grasp. They need to become the “Scions of Illumination”.

Outside the times of war, the Azari are at peace with the mind and soul. These are times of celebration and joy. Every Elven year, the disciples of the Pantheon organize the Wine Festival. The gates of the silver spired city swing open for all of Eden to arrive and celebrate a new year of harvest. The newest wines are sold during the celebration while old bottles which have laid around for dozens of years, are finally opened for this special occasion.

=== <u>City Life</u> ===
High Elves enjoy the luxurious pleasures of life such as wine, wealth, and free-time. The nation consists of high polite society, with a darker underbelly of sabotage and envy. In their efforts to be the best they can be, High Elves have interpreted this noble goal as to be the best. Competition between peers is fierce, and sabotage is not unheard of. Success is met with overwhelming praise, and failure with severe judgement.

=== <u>Political Beliefs</u> ===
Determined by Tetheris I Elladris, High Elves live under a diarchy, two rulers who share the power of the throne. When a new king takes the throne, a selection ceremony will be made for him to choose a woman of the Temple as his new bride. Whoever is selected, her task is to bring forth the most pure child in existence, worthy of leading the next generation of the Elven people to a higher level of enlightenment.

Beneath the Diarchy are a council dedicated to the nobles. These seats are up for sale, with the seat going to the highest bidder. A few seats are reserved for high mages, and the Silver Phoenix of the Temple. While the council may vote and contribute to the passing of laws, the diarchs always have the final say.

=== <u>Festivals and Celebrations</u> ===

* Mother’s day - Occurs during the Emerald Spring. A day of celebration for all the Elven mothers as embodiments of the Mother, Aerielle. Elven mothers are decorated with flowers picked and arranged by their children. They are treated like Queens for a day, encouraged to relax, and allow the family to take care of the home.
* Daughter’s day - Occurs during Eden’s Shine. A day of celebration for all Elven daughters, celebrating fertility, youth, and beauty. A feast is hosted to honor the extinct Azari’Soll. Then the Elves dance the night away to jovial music.
* Arch Arcane Championship - Every eight years the Azari’cill host the Arch Arcane. It's a tournament for mages from all over Eden to show their magical prowess in the arena.
* Father’s day- Occurs during the Amber Dawn. It is celebrated with a harvest festival that features artisan foods and elven wine. It is open to the greater public, acting as a farmer’s market. Azari’cerr are typically invited to partake in the festivities.
* Son’s day- Occurs during Lilith’s Veil. It is a more solemn event, acting as a day of remembrance for the Son’s rebellion, and the attack of their Azari’lunn kin. It is a day of silence and fasting, conversations always short and spoken in whispers. After the sun sets however, the children dress up as demons to avoid being snatched away by the ghosts of winter, and knock on doors to ask for sweets and pastries from inside.

=== <u>Commerce and work</u> ===
Given the High Elves’ dedication to discovery and preservation, Aerial is a treasure trove of wonders and arcana. The High Elves are one of the most advanced when it comes to medicine and knowledge of the natural world. Their largest export is their wine. However, anything that is sold by a High Elf, is revered as the most high quality, as its maker always strives for perfection.

== '''Religious Beliefs''' ==
One of the most pure tasks in High Elven society is being part of the Temple of the Silver Phoenix. Many families will donate their children to the Temple where they will be raised, taught, and trained in the way of the Mother. While not explicitly stated, it is more common for people to donate their daughters.

These children are divided by their age, ranging from little ones (Bessi’inn), adolescents (Scin), and teens (Scini). These students are raised under the roof of the mother, learning of their history, their religion, their Goddess. They are taught discipline, purity, and chastity. Once of age, these children will attempt to connect with the divine Mother in a trial. If successful, the Scini become Scinari, ordained priests and missionaries of the Mother. These priests are able to directly connect with the Mother and translate Her Will upon the Elves of Aerial. The highest of these positions is the “Silver Phoenix.”

Should a Scini fail the trial, they are redirected to becoming custodians and scribes of the church. While not strictly forbidden, it is taboo to leave the church given the implications of impurity and lack of chastity. It is not uncommon that a Purity Trial follows soon after.

== '''Military and Law''' ==
The Azari that choose not to pursue a academic or clergic path to climb the ladder of enlightenment often choose for a martial career within the Luminous Host. Physical conflict has always been viewed as brutish and unrefined in the high society of the 'cill. But with the omnipresent threat of Fineall, and the rapid advancement of surrounding nations, the Azari'cill had no choice besides preparing the newly established Luminous Enclave for the wars to come.

Under the guidance of Therri'cill Calydrian I Elladris, the Luminous Enclave introduced a levy system. One can join the ranks of the Luminous host on a vuluntary basis or be drafted into it in times of conflict. Those who choose to join the ranks voluntarily receive many years of training. It is expected of each career soldier to be a master with the sword, spear and bow. These career soldiers act as unit commanders of the citizen militia or elite units on the battlefield. The career soldiers also receive a priority position when the choosing ceremony for the Silver Cloaks takes place.

=== <u>Structure of the luminous host</u> ===

==== '''The citizen militia''' ====
Every 'Cill is expected to train themselves to become either a militia archer or spearman. Therri'cill Calydrian I Elladris introduced a levy system in response to the brutal events of the Age of Fallen Spires. These citizen warriors form the bulk of the enclaves armies. They are only active during wars. Every Elf, though he may be a craftsman, merchant or artist in peacetime, must become a resolute fighter in time of war.

==== '''The Knights of Aerial''' ====
Azari'cill are horsemasters without peer, and their knightly hosts can be accounted amongst the most glorious in the known world. Such is the duty and right of Aerial's nobility - to ride to war and fight at the forefront of battle to repeat the glories first won by the knights of Tetheris' court. Yet all the courage would be nothing without their swift steeds. Whose intelligence and faitfullness far outstrips the horses of other lands.

==== '''Battle mages''' ====
In Aerial, those who devote their lives to magic are treated with the highest respect and honour. They are the supporting backbone of the Azari'cill in and outside of times of war. Mages mostly act as advisors and sometimes commanders of the Azari army, and provide support through the usage of spells.

==== '''The Silver Cloaks''' ====
The Silver Cloaks are the guardians of the Diarchs of the Luminous Enclave. These are the finest warriors of the Azari people and are hand picked by the Therri'cill. As the sworn warriors of the Diarchy These guardians are honorbound to protect the ruler of the Luminous enclave at all cost. Their position lies beyond the rule of nobles and princes. Only the Diarchs of the Luminous Enclave can command them. They act as bodyguards on the battlefield and often act as the Diarchs personal emissaries in day-to-day life.

==== Martial Traditions ====
Before battle, High Elves will paint their shields, often images of the Silver Phoenix, or even a family crest. Whenever it's time for a new battle, they will paint a new image over the old one to represent strength and consistency in the face of change.

=== <u>The Cillari Law</u> ===

===== Chapter 1: The Fundamentals =====
<u>Article 1.</u> The citizens of the mothers blessed city will not tolerate any acts of barbarism to one another.

This extends to any and all acts of physical aggression and threatening to use violence or cause physical harm to another citizen. Violence is the way of the uncivilized and all disputes should be solved through civil discussion. The only exception to this is when violence is used in an act of self-defenses.

<u>Article 2.</u> The citizens of the mothers blessed city will not tolerate acts of uncontrolled greed.

Theft is not to be tolerated and there is no exception to this. A society that feels the need to scrape around for petty coin is no better than the fallen kingdoms of the Azari’Lunn.

<u>Article 3.</u> The citizens of the mothers blessed city will not tolerate destruction of property.

Damaging the property of the blessed city or her citizens is unacceptable. The uncaring and malevolent individuals that engage in such acts can only be denoted as being impure and rotten to the core.

<u>Article 4.</u> The citizens of the mothers blessed city will not tolerate any individual who mutilates themselves on purpose for aesthetic reasons.

Any jewelry that pierces the skin is strictly forbidden. Artificially adjusting the colour of hair or patterns in the skin through the use of tattoos are also frowned upon and any offenders of such acts will be punished accordingly. How could a cill follower of the mother, Aerielle ever mutilate the gift of the body?

<u>Article 5</u>. The citizens of the mothers blessed city will not tolerate any attempts at the conversion of the Azari’cill to heretical or otherwise impure beliefs.

To attempt to let a Azari’cill stray from the path of the mother is to assault the mental purity of the Azari’cill themselves. No preachers or missionaries will be permitted to spread their false ideals or beliefs within the Mother’s city.

<u>Article 6</u>. The citizens of the mothers blessed city will not tolerate any individual who denies the teachings of the mother within the borders of the blessed city.

<u>Article 7.</u> The citizens of the mothers blessed city will not tolerate individuals who feel the need to obscure their identity.

<u>Article 8</u>. The citizens of the mothers blessed city will not tolerate intrusion upon their private properties.

=== <u>Punishment:</u> ===

===== Basic Tribunal =====
A basic court hearing for the accused criminal, heard by only one to two judges.

===== Purity Trial =====
An extremely severe religious tribunal, the ruling of which will decide life or death for the accused. The judges are a selection of important people from society for different viewpoints and the Diarchs give the final verdict.

Judges: High Priest from the temple, Some important dude from the military and someone with a civil position.

If a judge is not able to attend, the Diarchs will appoint someone else to be the judge in their place. But in the end there is always a group of 5.

When one of the Diarchs is not available, the verdict is just done by one, and if both aren't there at the time of the trial, the highest nobles take the place of the Diarchs.

== History ==

=== <u>The Age of Enlightenment</u> ===
he origins of the Azari are mostly unknown. It is commonly believed that the race of Elves was gifted with life by the gods of the Elven Pantheon. The elven race has its roots in the Valley of Dragons, also known as Arda. This time is known as the '''Age of Enlightenment'''.

It was in this age that the Gods of the Pantheon walked among their children, giving the Azari a piece of themselves to help shape them.

'''The Father, Kharash''', gifted the Azari strength, courage, and Fatherhood.

'''The Mother, Aerièlle''', gifted her children the wisdom of Enlightenment and the ability to wield the sacred blessings of Eden in the form of arcane magic.

'''The Daughter, Aestaena,''' gifted her children fertility, love and the need to procreate.

And at last there '''the Son, Fineall''', gave his children challenges in life, as he despised his parents because they favoured his sister. He wanted to take a slice of the souls for himself to create a race shaped in his image. A race that would one day take down the pantheon.

=== <u>The Age of Fallen Spires</u> ===
The Elves of Fineall knew only anger, jealousy, perversion, and lust. His children were tainted and foul, as they despised their more gifted and enlightened kin who looked down upon them as abominations. The other Gods of the Pantheon also looked upon the Dark kin of Fineall with disgust and tried to destroy them in body and soul.

Despite their best efforts, the Gods could not destroy the Azari’lunn or Dark Elves as they became known as in the common tongue. The conflict sparked a massive civil war between the Azari children of the Gods. Many cities were destroyed by magical barrages from the Arch-Mages of both sides. The children of the Daughter, the Azari’soll, were completely wiped out by a surprise Dark Elven assault on their homeland nearing the end of the war. Towards that end, as the Azari’lunn saw that they could not overcome the endless legions of the Azari’cill, The Son blessed one of his most enlightened servants, Noctis. He became the leader of his children and ordered him to disappear from the face of Eden with the remaining Dark Elves until their time would come. Fineall took it upon himself to battle the rest of the Pantheon in the heavens for the rest of eternity to make sure that the other Gods would never be able to return to Eden and destroy his children.

As a direct result of Fineall’s war in the heavens, the Gods of the Pantheon left their children in Eden. Without their Gods to teach them the ways of enlightenment, the Azari were truly lost and their kingdoms descended into anarchy. The old order of the Elven Empire was completely toppled in the years of the Fallen Spires. The remaining races started to accuse each other for the war and were preparing for another wave of uncontrolled violence toward one another. The children of Kharash were horrified by these events of pure barbarism and isolated themselves in Myln Arbor. They did not completely cut ties with the Azari’cill but they would not actively seek any contact with the other Azari for the foreseeable future. The children of Fineall had exiled themselves from the Valley of Dragons.

The remaining Azari tried to find a sign of their Gods, a reason to live and to continue on the path of enlightenment. It was at this moment that the Silver Phoenix flew over the Glade of Dragons. In other realms, the Silver Phoenix is simply known as the Priscus of the Skies, but to the Azari it was the avatar of the Mother. It was a majestic beast that gave the Azari a reason to reinvent themselves. They built temples to the Phoenix and tried to find ways to communicate with the elemental spirit of the skies. The Scinari Caste was tasked to collect and translate the ancient texts of the gods and lay out a path for the Azari’cill to follow. This is the path that would eventually lead to reunification with the Mother.

=== <u>The Reinvention</u> ===
Years passed as the Azari’cill rebuilt their broken realm. No longer were their attempts at founding the perfect order haunted by cursed anatomies or hollow souls. The Azari’cill created a culture of betterment that founded the new city of Silver, dedicated to the Mother of all Elves, Aerièlle.

The Azari’cill spread their influence across the great nations of Eden with sublime efficacy. It was child’s play for the Elves to learn new languages, sciences, and forms of art. Some sought to conquer the vistas of the mind, their bodies seated cross-legged as their spirits roamed far and wide. Others travelled the lands, making beautiful tomes of the knowledge they found in the fields of cartography, biology, botany, history, and more.

The people of the Valley of Dragons wished to reach true enlightenment and sought to spread it to the lesser nations. Missionaries moved far and wide to educate lesser races in the ways taught by Aerièlle, hoping to one day bring the lesser races to the same standard as the Azari. These pioneers did not slaughter those monsters and savage creatures they encountered, for they considered such tactics barbaric. Instead, they tamed the beasts of the land where possible, and left them to their own devices if that was not viable. If the creatures were particularly predatory, they instead maneuvered them through the Phoenix gate to other, less enlightened lands.

The Reinvention brought forth an age of prosperity for sure, yet the Elves of Arda still have a long road to travel on. The recent so-called “Rotting plague” devastated most of the missionary work and significantly thinned the mostly imported food supplies of the Silver City. Nevertheless, the Azari race endured and are now eager to continue their effort to educate the lesser races and to uncover new knowledge.

=== <u>Chronicles of the Therri'cill</u> ===
<u>Tetheris I Elladris</u> - The Judge (''1 - 125'')

As first official ruler of the Azari’cill, he led the Azari'cill through the horror that was the Age of Fallen Spires, and was dedicated to creating a new way of life for the High Elves. It was thanks to his teachings that the High Elves were able to enter the age of reinvention.

<u>Calydrian I Elladris</u> - The Warrior (''125 - 223'')

Calydrian sought to protect the High Elven ways set forth by his Father. He created the civilian militia and basic combat curriculum.

<u>Tetheris II Elladris -</u> The Scholar (''223 - 412'')

Tetheris II sought to reclaim lost knowledge from the ruins of the Age of Fallen Spires. He opened Aeriel’s first library, and organized for the government to always have scribes on hand to record and preserve their history.

<u>Acaris I Elladris -</u> The Sage (''412 - 710'')

Built upon Tetheris II’s work by rediscovering and developing the High Elves’ connection to the arcane and the elements. While not a mage himself, he created the infrastructure for the Temple of the Silver Phoenix, and put High Elves back on the road to enlightenment.

<u>Dimaethor I Elladris -</u> The Poet (''710 - 1067'')

Legendary writer who wrote a great many novels, stories, and history books. Died in a tragic accident while touring Eden for his book.

<u>Aestaena I Elladris-Zaithrall -</u> The Widow ''(1067 - 1255'')

Following her husband’s death, Aestaena made the decision to rule solo until her own untimely death.

.

<u>Aethis I Zaithrall</u> - The Builder (''1255 - 1521'')

Rebuilt High Elven society after its rapid collapse following the great famine caused by the Rotting Plague.

.
=== Appearance ===
● Elves are known as the tallest race on Eden. There are some recorded cases in which an Elf had grown to about three meters. This is of course an extremely rare case, as most Elves grow to about 1,95 – 2,00 Meters. Women are generally a bit shorter than males.

● The skin of a High elf is, generally speaking, very pale.

● This is usually paired with White, silver or blonde hair. There is a very small minority of Azari’cill with black hair. These Elves are generally looked down upon because of black hair is usually a sign of inbreeding with the Azari’lunn, which is unacceptable in Azari’cill culture.

● The Eyes of High Elves are almost always blue or green. In some rare cases, silver eyes have been reported. This is seen as the most pure colour and it is very rare. The Silver eyed elves are seen as personally blessed by the mother. Elves do not have facial hair.

● The ears of Elves are the longest of all the living creatures in Eden. The ears generally form a point-like shape at the end. Elven ears can grow up to 15 – 25 centimetres in length. The Elves of Aerial believe that the length of the ears reflects the wisdom of the elf

●The Azari age significantly slower than the other races on Eden. One Elven year roughly translates to around 5 human years. Elves can live up to around 100-120 Elven years, or 500-600 human years and reach adulthood at 18, or 90 human years. The children of the mother keep their young appearance for most of their lives. Only starting to show visible aging around their 90’s.

=== Language ===
Elves generally speak the common tongue. This language, through its extreme popularity, has been adopted and normalized in Elven culture. A dialect has sprung up in Aerial of a combination of Ancient Elvish and the common tongue.

The ancient elven language is a mostly forgotten one. Scholars in Aerial are trying to rediscover their ancient language and bring it back to the vocabulary of the Elves. Often used ancient elven words that found their way into common speech:

<u>Greetings:</u>

“Cilus” is a word without a specified meaning. When someone bears a title with the word “Cilus” in it, it is generally seen as a high ranking person.

=== Culture & Society ===

==== <u>Structure of Elven society</u> ====
Modern Elven society is centered along the lines of progress and purity. All Elves are part of a bigger whole and no Elf is more important than the progress of the nation.

==== <u>Romance and marriage:</u> ====
Azari are massively focused on procreation. The gifts of Mothers and Daughters sprawl through elven society and its populace. It is very common to see Elves pair with each other when they reach adulthood. Elves are creatures that are easily captured by the sin of lust, which can be seen in their lives, where elves tend to switch partners a few times in their younger years before finally settling down. When Elves finally decide to get married, the entirety of the Silver City rejoices at the dawn of a new generation. An Elven wedding is quite the affair, which can last for even a week when it is a person of importance.

Marriage in Elven society is final, as it is a promise before the face of the Pantheon that you will serve them and will safeguard a new generation of Elves. Divorce is therefore unheard of; it is seen as the ultimate betrayal in the face of the Pantheon. The families of the divorced couple will be looked down upon for the foreseeable future and the pair will most likely be executed. The only way to ask for forgiveness of the Pantheon, after committing this crime, is to give them your most valuable possession: your life.

==== <u>Life & Reproduction:</u> ====
After a wedding, the first task for a newly founded elven family is to put a child on Eden to further their family name. Elves, however, have an extremely complex reproductive system. Female Elves are only fertile one week per elven year and only become fertile around their 25th. Most elves are eager to see if the mother will bless them with a young life each year. Reproduction is so important in elven culture that once per year, a giant festival will be held to celebrate a new year of elven fertility.

==== <u>Death & Funerals:</u> ====
Elves, despite their extremely long lives, can die due to natural causes. When they die, a huge burial ceremony will be held by the family of the deceased elf. Elven bodies are burned after death. This is done to return the body and spirit to Aerièlle so that it may live on forever in the pantheon. Elves believe that the spirit is trapped inside the body as long as it is still on Eden.

=== History ===

==== <u>The Age of Enlightenment (Origins)</u> ====
The origins of the Azari are mostly unknown.

==== <u>The Age of Fallen Spires</u> ====

==== <u>The Reinvention:</u> ====

=== Culture & Society ===

==== <u>Structure of Elven society</u> ====
Modern Elven society is centered along the lines of progress and purity. All Elves are part of a bigger whole and no Elf is more important than the progress of the nation.

==== <u>Romance and marriage:</u> ====

=== Culture & Society ===

==== <u>Structure of Elven society</u> ====
Modern Elven society is centered along the lines of progress and purity. All Elves are part of a bigger whole and no Elf is more important than the progress of the nation.

==== <u>Romance and marriage:</u> ====

==== <u>Life & Reproduction:</u> ====

==== <u>Death & Funerals:</u> ====

=== History ===

==== <u>The Age of Enlightenment (Origins)</u> ====
The origins of the Azari are mostly unknown.

==== <u>The Age of Fallen Spires</u> ====

==== <u>The Reinvention:</u> ====

The Rotting Plague.

A black mark on the history of Eden, the Plague of Rot aka Rotting Plague decimated all race populations to the point where they are today. It has been a decade since the end of the pandemic, and the people of Eden are still rebuilding and in fear of another outbreak.

The name “Rotting Plague” originates from its symptoms. Those who were infected had limbs and organs rot out from the inside over a period of 8 days. The disease was spread through direct contact, but it could also become waterborne, therefore infecting plants, and livestock. Later in its lifespan it became airborne as infected bodies were burned.

The Rotting Plague’s true origin is unknown, but its first outbreak can be traced back to the northern fiefdoms of Hadriana in the year [tba]. This strange disease would spark into a 5-year long pandemic.

A plague, known to the world, or at least that is the point of this document you are reading right now. This document will tell you about the most vital details of the Plague of Rot. Or, as it is commonly referred to: The Rotting Plague.

This document will be split into sections, each giving information on the plague. The details you see in this document are the primary form of the plague. What we mean with primary is how the plague initially works, as each race in our world was eventually affected differently. An example would be humans having no immune system and thus be affected by all its effects, while elves were immune yet faced other problems. Tieflings would suffer different kinds of effects, and so did other races.

Its History:

The Rotting Plague's true origin is due to the technology of the time, unknown. First sightings of the plague were in the northern fiefdoms of The Kingdom Of Hadriana in the year [...], sparking the beginning of a five-year-long apocalypse onto the world of Eden.

The name "Rotting Plague" originates from the effects the plague had on its victims. Each living being, plant, or even certain foods that the plague touched turned into living yet decomposing husks. The name, just like the pestilence itself, spread quickly throughout the world thanks to nature and merchants, bringing death and destruction in its wake.

Infection cycle:

The way the virus or bacteria spread was again due to the time period very hard to point out. It was from direct skin touch with infected flesh, ingestion of contaminated foods and drinks, insects, and saliva. Even certain animals were not safe to approach. Air was later on added due to the ash of corpses being also burned, still holding spores of rot.

Spore cases were rare of the plague. When an infected host would be infected for a longer time, the damaged lungs will cause the infected to cough, making the host release spores of the plague. The dead tissue of the hosts’ body also produces spores in the ending stages up until death. The same was when staying near an infected body being burned, the ashes would still contain the spores of the plague.

Infected bodies, plants, or animals that reached clear waters, such as rivers or ponds or other water sources, would infect the water if their bodies made contact, turning the water either poisonous or giving the person or animal drinking it the disease. Wells in villages and towns were quickly infected, spreading the plague only more.

Symptoms:

Symptoms of the plague and its infection cycle were looked at throughout the apocalypse years thanks to the sacrifice of those who tried studying the plague. Unfortunately, due to their losses, most of their works also failed to reach the majority of the population.

Symptoms of plague mainly were hidden, as the primary way of killing the host was making them "rot" from the inside first rather than showing this to the skin. This meant that living creatures like animals and the races of Eden had a hard time finding out who or what was infected, or showing signs of the disease.

Symptoms varied from each race, but the most notable effect the plague had was the immense fever and skin irritation in the first phase of the disease. Loss of taste and smell followed suit. Many of these symptoms were seen as minor illnesses. Making many people realize the danger until it was too late.

Stages of infection:

An infected lifespan was eight days. Each day represented a stage or phase of the disease affecting the one being infected. It even causes the infected to act as a carrier in particular phases.

Stage one, day one:

Disease lays dormant in the host. The host will suffer an illness known as a common cold. Only in this stage can the condition of the disease be held back by high-tier medicine used for treating the common cold, causing the plague to be cured. But this is only in 30% of the cases.

Stage two, day two:

The disease begins to spread through the body. The spread causes the host to suffer immense fever combined with the common cold. From the second stage, the infected can no longer be cured. The host loses sense of smell.

Stage three, day three:

The immense fever has died down. The disease has now started to <nowiki>''eat away'' at the body tissue of the host. The skin irritations can be first seen on the host'</nowiki>s body. This causes itching and sometimes gives a burning sensation to the skin. The host will continue to have the symptoms of stage one common cold.

Stage four, day four:

The common cold has faded - redness and irritation of the skin increase. The itchiness has now disappeared as well, replaced by the burning sensation completely. This causes no significant pain on the infected host but enough to cause irritation. In most cases, the infected host will begin to suffer hair loss.

Stage five, day five:

The infected host their organs will begin to be affected by the disease, starting at the digestive organs and lungs. The host will start to slowly lose the need for food or drinks and begin to cough. The coughing brings bacteria airborne, turning the infected host into a carrier. The irritated skin has already started to tear and crack, causing the irritated skin to bleed and show exposed tissue.

Stage six, day six:

The hosts' muscle tissue is now in a damaged state too. The host has trouble moving now. Skin tissue begins to peel off, exposing large chunks of tissue underneath, even bone in early cases. The coughing of the host is now painful, coughing up bacteria and gobs of blood and rotten tissue. In 100% of the cases, did the host not feel pain beyond stage six, even though their body began to suffer immense trauma.

Stage seven, day seven:

The brain has now been affected as well. The host will begin to turn into a <nowiki>''zombie'' like state. Their movements are slow, almost limping or crawling, speech begins to slur, and eyesight begins to be faulty as the eyes start to rot too. Larger chunks of skin, combined with muscle tissue, will begin to turn black, rot and peel from the host's body, exposing more bone. The rotten tissue present in the lungs causes the host to cough out spores. These are also released from the hosts'</nowiki> rotten skin tissue.

Stage eight, day eight:

The host has lost eyesight. The skin on 60% of the body has rotten off, exposing bone and rotten muscle tissue. The infected body continues to release spores. In most cases, the hosts' nervous system is active again, causing the host to feel the pain originating from the trauma that is caused by the plague. The host will begin to scream out, followed up by the complete, literal collapse of the body moments or hours later. The last spores of the plague will leave the hosts’ body as well. The host is then declared dead.

Animals of the plague:

Certain animals were not infected. 'Till this day, the world has not been able to find out why. But animals such as rats, fish, and insects were immune to the plague, acting more as carriers rather than dying out. Rats, however, reacted more differently than any other animal affected by the plague. Rats would form massive hordes, searching for food even to the point that the races of Eden were not safe anymore. Being alone was dangerous, and rats would eat a person or larger animal if possible. Most notably left unattended children.

Due to rats living in the dark most of the time, and the rot affecting their eyesight, magic and light would scare them off. Their behavior during the Rotting Plague was matched with that of Rabies. Though, their increased lust for flesh and stacking of numbers was never fully explained. Animals like cows, sheep and chickens were damaged in the same ways humans were, decaying them and making them skinny. Their skin and meat would wither away, flaking off their remains. This means the plague affected every person even if they were not infected their food source became sparse.

== History ==
Although the separate histories of the Khadans and the Azari’lunn stretched far beyond that of the Emirate itself, most Akhadis would agree that it is the first contact between the two races that truly symbolizes the birth of their beloved nation.

It is believed that the Azari’lunn stumbled upon the Khadans and the city of Al-Khadir – still a trading town back then – purely by accident. The Azari’lunn, having barely survived the civil war, were living as the gipsies of Eden for almost two centuries. Roaming the lands of Eden, this group of refugees had been seeking a place that would greet them if not with welcoming arms, at least not with scorns and detestation.

Yet their search had been fruitless. Although the Azari’lunn had proven themselves to be quick learners of various skills with their elven wisdom and inherent perseverance, few of the towns or villages were willing to take in this group of exiles.

It is believed that the Azari’lunn had never stayed at a place for over a month. It was also during this period of unresting travel that the group size of the Azari’lunn hits its lowest. The Azari’lunn, already barely able to sustain themselves, were also subjected to the menace of bounty hunters, mercenaries or even elven assassins. Thugs would constantly pick on the group of exiles, and the local authorities were often fleecing the Azari’lunn of the few coins in their pockets. The kidnapping of women and children was also frequent, as the former were often sold with a high prices for their elven figures in brothels and the later exploited for slavery. This period of time, now known as the Difficult Days, is recognized undoubtedly as one of the most glooming during the entire history of the Azari’lunn.

Yet it was almost as if the children of Fineall had not received enough challenges in their already dismal journey. With the death of their leader Zebrac Torsec, the Azari’lunn were ill with grief and also directionless. Under the guidance of a few elders, the Azari’lunn ventured into the wasteland of Anjyarr, only to find themselves in the middle of a lifeless desert. With the burning sun vamperiozing most of their water reserve during the day, and the chilling strong wind freezing what’s left, it did not take long before the group of exiles had to face the harsh desert climate under devastating hunger, thirst and extreme exhaustion.

In the most desperate of their times, the elders in the group gathered to discuss the fate of the Azari’lunn. As most agreed to leave the desert following their footprints, the destiny of the exiles was still uncertain as the way out would be equally as harsh. But just as the Azari’lunn were about to turn around, amidst the brewing sandstorm, a glimpse of something colorful and artful could be seen in the distance.

In their last hope, the refugees sent out three brave ‘lunns to scout the structures. When they finally arrived at the gates of the town, they were greeted by the Khadan guards who, despite noticing their shabby appearance and storm-torned clothing, welcomed them respectfully. The three elves were treated with food, water and a warm bed to rest on while a team of Khadan soldiers were sent to help the rest of the group. For the first time in two centuries, the Azari’lunn were invited into a town filled with people who not only treated them with kindness and respect, but also willing to host them for long.

And as such the Azari’lunn’s hundred years of search ended at the trading town of Al-Khadir. Most Khadans were first curious about their dark-skinned new friends, but their curiosity soon turned into astonishment as the ‘lunns started displaying all the skills they picked up along their journey. Indeed, among the Azari’lunn were skilled seamstresses, jewellers, carpenters and smith; their knowledge in herbalism, Eden’s history and politics were also found useful as the Khadans were able to treat their sick more efficiently and to the barge for a better price when trading with the travelling merchants.

It should be noted that it would be inaccurate to state that none had ever questioned the Khadans for their warm welcomes. After all, for centuries the Azari’lunn had been hunted for, deceived, exploited and sneered at. In fact, a considerable portion of the exiled were reluctant to put their guard down. They remained distant and set up a separate camp outside of the town, cutting all connection to the humans except for when living necessities were traded for.

But the Khadans were not judgemental. Also having an ancestry of war refugees, they relate by heart to their dark-skinned friends. The vigilant and kind nature of the Khadans also made them loathe the bounty hunters that were after the Azari’lunn’s trails, and many Khadan soldiers even took pride in hunting down the thugs reversely to an extent that not a single ill-minded person would even dare to enter the desert.

And as such the two races of Al-Khadir lived their separate lives in harmony for the first century or so. This distant harmony, although perhaps not the most ideal in the eyes of the Akhadi today, would have lasted longer. Yet the true unity between the two races would not have happened if it wasn't for the impact of the deadly rotting plague.

It only took one sick Atian merchant to infect a whole market. At first, Khadans returning from the market started to fall ill, throwing up every last drop of liquid they consumed until there was nothing but blood. The Khadan doctors who actively treated the first wave of patients were then infected, followed by their families and neighbours. Given that the plague also spread through water, once the sewage system in the city was infected, the plague went almost uncontrollable. Soon, it was documented that 80% of the Khadan’s population were wiped out by the rotting plague. With people dying every day and the remaining of humans falling sick, bodies were left unburied, lying on the streets to rot and for animals to devour.

The once-flourishing trading centre of the desert was made a ghost town, but the worse had yet to come. With the other cities of Eden also plague-bonded, all ties to the desert were cut and travelling merchants soon stopped appearing at the gates of Al-Khadir. In addition, the majority of the surviving Khadans were either too sick to even walk or too young. Supplies in the city started to run short, and as if the plague was not worse enough, the surviving Khadans soon found themselves having to decide if it would be better for the dead bodies to be buried or eaten so the living could struggle for another day.

And in the most desperate of the human’s time, their decision to take in the Azari’lunn had finally proven itself to be a correct one. The rotting plague wiped out 80% of the humans but left the elves unharmed. The Azari’lunn resolutely abandoned their settlement and went into the disease-ridden town, knocking on every door in search for survivors and cared for them just like how the Khadans used to care for the ‘lunns.

And as such the Azari’lunn treated the sick, cared for the orphans and buried the dead properly. The town of Al-Khadir, although drastically damaged, was able to return to its old-day glory much faster than other settlements around Eden. With the population of the Khadans greatly impacted, the Azari’lunn now surpasses the humans in numbers. And when the aftermath of the rotting plague finally ended, the Khadans and the Azari’lunn were treating each other like brothers with either race reluctant to live without the other. In an almost consensual vote, the leader of the Azari’lunn, Nevaso Torsec – descendant of the heroic Zebrac Torsec – was voted as the ruler of Al-Khadir by both Khadans and ‘lunns. To honor the lost lives of the Khadans and the former chief Al Masri, Nevaso Torsec added the last name to his bloodline, and the house of Torsec Al Masri continued to rule Al-Khadir until today.

== Geography ==

== Economy ==

=== <big>Political beliefs</big> ===
The pursuit of loyalty and unity have taken such significance in the Emirate of Al-Khadir that the political beliefs of many Akhadis are shaped surrounding these concepts. The political system in Al-Khadir is generally considered one of the most free and open-minded in Eden. However, it should be noted that despite its diversity-embracing natural, the political system and beliefs in Al-Khadir still possess several distinctive traits, as follows:

The concept of “unity” manifests in the democracy of Al-Khadir. The Akhadis value different voices, and each perspective is equally treasured and respected despite one's gender, race, occupation or wealth. This gives birth to the unique representative counsel system in Al-Khadir’s political sphere, as one representative from each dominating occupation or specialization is selected every five years to gather as a counsel in assisting the ruling Emir/Emira.

Imaginably, the Akhadis are proud of their democracy and inclusiveness. Their sense of pride and loyalty are seen through the authoritarian nature of Al-Khadir. The ruling house of Al Masari Torsec has been well-liked by the citizens of Al-Khadir, not in the manner of subordinates to the sovereign, but more intimate, similar to a family patriarch/matriarch. This is primarily due to the initial election of Nevaso Al Masari Torsec, but it is also evident that the house has indeed fulfilled its responsibility in it’s many years serving as the guardian of the Emirate.

=== <big>Military and Law</big> ===
The strengths and virtues of the Akhadi swordsman and bowman are etched deeply into their identities as discipline, devotion, wisdom and sacrifice are generally considered as the lifeblood of an Akhadi soldier. Such ideology truly enlivens the army of Al-Khadir.

Also known as the Royal Guards, the Akhadi army may have had some dark pasts and struggled through difficult times. However, under the recent command of admiral Munace Vikhari and his son, the now-admiral Khelthraid Vikhari, the Royal Guards has gone through multiple reformations and is now considered – if not surpassing –as powerful as any other armed forces in Eden.

Like the nation of Al-Khadir, the Royal Guard consists of a mixture of dark elves and humans. The different fighting styles, weapons and techniques from both races are equally encouraged in the military, with an example being the Water Dancing fighting style originally practiced by the Zenthir clan of the ancient Khadan humans.

The preferred weapons of choice of the Royal Guards include spears, short bows or curved swords. This preference of quick and elegant weapons is common among both dark elves and humans, as the Khadan humans have been long accustomed to spears and bows, and the dark elves significantly favor swiftness due to their relatively slender physique in comparison to other elven races.

It is worth noting that the use of non-aggressive strategies or subtle means of attack is highly encouraged and even accoladed in the army. Examples of such strategies or means include poisoning, stealth or espionage. The army has witnessed a growing trend in the use of such means under the command of admiral Khelthraid Vikhari who, upon noticing some of the typical shortcoming of dark elves, decided to develop and promote a fighting style that “truly belongs to the Azari’lunn”. As such, it is very common for the Akhadi army to praise a soldier not only for their ability to surpass others physically, but also for their intellectual superiority. The act of only using one’s strengths or brute-forcing one’s way out is therefore often considered a simply-minded approach rather than bravery.

The admiral, being the highest ranking individual in the army, will first assess a candidate’s eagerness; upon being approved to be truly whole-hearted and possessing the necessary sense of honor, the candidate is then sworn in by reading the Royal Guard Oath to the ruling Emir. One is then officially considered to be a Jundi, and from there one can start exploring their skills and preferences under the guidance of higher-ranking officers.

==== Military Apparel: ====
The Royal Guards of Al-Khadir tend to wear lighter armour that are cloth-based with chainmail covering the fatal weak spots. Brass plates heavily enamelled and inlined with shining silver or gold are also used to prevent one from being struck with a sword. In addition to armour, it is also common for soldiers to wear masks. This is because of several reasons: first, one can remain unrecognisable and is able to keep their work life separate from personal life; second, one can protect themselves from the frequent sandstorms and the burning heat of the desert.

==== <u>'''Ranks:'''</u> ====
Ranking in the Al-khadir goes in order of:

* Admiral
* Ghazi
* Jundi

Each rank is important to the army; it is just seen as the different roles having different responsibilities and roles:

<u>The Admiral:</u> the highest in command being in charge of everyone in the Royal Guard. They will often be seen accompanying the emir of Al-Khadir protecting them. But could also be protecting the other high nobles of the nation.

<u>The Ghazi</u>: under the admiral and are in charge of smaller squads, they take charge of the Jundi and make sure everything runs smoothly for the admiral. They always accompany the Jundi on their quests and orders.

<u>The Jundi:</u> the normal soldiers but this does not make them any less important than any other role. They focus on doing what they are told, they can be asked to do patrols or protection of important people on their travels.

== <small>Crime and Punishment</small> ==
In the Emirate of Al-Khadir, crime is something you do not want to get caught up in. Although humans and dark elves have different beliefs as to how criminals should be punished, both races are known for holding honor and loyalty with high regards. Since the humans were supportive of “giving second chances” whereas the dark elves tend to be more vindictives, the two races came up with a compromise to bring both beliefs together: criminals are to be punished by serving their time in forced labour camps. Generally, unless one has committed a felony, they are to be working in the city or the gold mines. Although some humans view such punishments as justified slavery, most dark elves would consider such punishments as labour duty,

Depending on the severity of one’s crime, possible labour duties range from cleaning the stables to gardening in the palance. However, despite what one might end up doing, these jobs are often looked down upon unlike any other professions in Al-Khadir. This is because the law enforcement in Al-Khadir wish to preserve the punitive nature of these labour duties, therefore deterring one from potentially commiting a crime.

Like aforementioned, depending on the crime that was committed, the jury will decide one’s work for the rest of their sentence. The less severe crimes such as stealing or disrespecting the higher-ups of Al-Khadir are usually associated with less demanding jobs and would only result in a sentence of at most two years long. The more severe crimes, however, could lead one into doing jobs such as rat-catching, which are often extremely hideous for the deterring purposes mentioned before.

However, one would be very wrong to think that most crimes are punished only with forced labour. In fact, many crimes are taken very seriously and the Al-Khadir law actually contains one of the most numerous statues of potential felonies. This is primarily because of the trading-hub nature of the Emirate. Afterall, it is natural for the nation having hosted visitors from all around the continent – to implement a stricter law to keep most in check. In addition, Al-Khadir also wishes to preserve its status as the trading center of Eden, whereas a city filled with crime would certainly hinder the city from getting a good reputation.

<u>'''Examples of crimes:'''</u>

* <u>Trespassing</u> into people’s private homes, the palace or any restricted places would result in little to no punishment if the act was unintentional. Otherwise, the offender is usually fined. In such cases, one should pay their fine at the tax office in the royal palace.

* <u>Stealing</u> is a serious crime as it is considered as trust-breaking. Stealing is punishable through labour duty but for a limited amount of time. The judge would usually ask the offender how long they think they should be punished for before making the final call. The severity of this crime is usually associated with the value of the goods that have been stolen.

* The act of <u>murde</u>r is unacceptable and is one of the most severe felonies. In judging a suspect of murder, a public court meeting is held and the community would decide their fate. Unless with understandable motives or specific factors, murders are usually displayed publicly before starting to serve an indefinite time in forced labour.

* <u>Treason</u> is the most severe of all. Any plotting or scheming against the emir will be considered treason. The Royal Guard will constantly be on high alert if there are rumors of a potential plot. The punishment for treason would be a public execution with the offender’s body left exposed and displayed. It is also considered every citizen’s social duty to report any suspicious activities, and failure to comply so, upon being discovered, could also result in criminal punishment.

<nowiki>*</nowiki>It should also be noted that no weapons or substances may enter the Royal Palace. The only people permitted to have weapons are those trusted by the admiral and the Emir/Emira. Taking a weapon inside the palace without permission will be considered as attempt at murder.
== Culture and Society ==

== <small>''Apparel''</small> ==
Despite the many differences between the two races, both the Khadan and the Dark elves have managed to develop a common trend in apparel.

The harsh climate of Anjyarr has made both races favor loose, layered robes and dresses made out of many different materials such as cotton, linen, silk or satin. The wealthy will often be seen wearing clothes accessorized with many different jewels usually made of precious metals such as gold or silver.

The robes and dresses of the Akhadi are usually very colourful and often have accents of gold weaved within the fabric. The only difference between the two races, when it comes to their apparel, is that the elves prefer elegant dark-coloured robes decorated with mostly purple gems and inlaid with silver instead of gold. It is also usual for Akhadis to wear piercings.

While traveling through the desert of Anjyarr the Akhadi are often seen wearing hoods over their heads as protection as well as to hide their identity. On top of that the women are often seen wearing veils covering their face in order to keep the sand out of their face and prevent it from reaching their eyes.

== <small>''Festivals and Celebrations''</small> ==
''Wahid'' - A two-day festival in which the Akhadi celebrate the alliance formed between the Khadan and the Azari’ Lunn. The first day is spent with A fishing contest and boat race, The second day is spent with music, dancing and ending the night in a feast prepared by the entire Emirate, including the Emir/Emira

''Samudara'' - A celebration that indicates the start of a new fishing season, during which new sails are raised and the fishermen of the nation are honored.

''Feast of the Emir'' - Marking the end of a year, this feat is considered as one of the most important events in Al-Khadir. Following the traditions, the emir would welcome all their citizens into the palace for a feast and games. Accordingly, it is customary for the people to wear their best attire in attending this event.

<u>The Khadan</u>

Sangh - A three-day festival that takes place annually. Starting on the believed date of the reunion between the two Clans, the Khadans spend their time hosting duels (in a friendly and sportive manner), feasting and dancing. Traditionally the two strongest warriors would also put on a performance duel that would continue throughout the festival, but due to such performance being too exhausting, it has been replaced by shorter duels between anyone who would like to be challenged.

Kura- A festival that emphasizes the significance of love of life in the Khadan’s life philosophy. A significant trait of this festival is that different events would take place during the day and the evening. During the day, the younger people would celebrate by hosting a series of competitive sports events such as horse racing or archery, while the elders would spend time visiting their friends or relatives. On the contrary, the evening is a time when the lovers would spend time with each other and when the singles would seek for a potential partner.

<u>The Azari’ lunn</u>

''Mereth'' -A feast that celebrates generations that lived and those that are to come. During this feast the entire village will often sit and prepare special dishes. Each household is required to prepare at least two dishes of their specialty, food will be shared and a massive gathering will take place.

''Linnas'' -A massive parade that celebrates the Azari’lunn’s enthusiasm for music and accumulation of wealth. Being quite an important event on the Azari’lunn’s calendar, it is customary for one to dress up in their finest clothing and parade around while listening and dancing to the music being played. The music is often produced by lutes or drums, their music is very upbeat and the dances are a lot more lively. The music, often produced by lutes or drums, is usually very upbeat with the accompanying dances a lot more livelier than the regular dances performed by the Azari’lunn.

''Gwinnig'' -This is a festival that will celebrate new life and elven fertility. Much like the High Elves, reproduction is important to the Dark elves. This is why Gwinnig takes place three times per elven year to celebrate the birth of younger elves and the fertility of an elfess.

== <small>''Commerce and work''</small> ==
<u>Export:</u>

The Emirate of Al-Khadir has a long history of producing precious metals such as gold or silver. Long before the Azari’lunn and the Khadans’ alliance, the earliest Khada traders began trading with Hadrian traveling merchants using golden nuggets. The formation of the human-elven alliance has drastically increased the fining technology of precious metals and gemstones, therefore increasing the value of the already-rich reservation of precious metals gemstones in the territory of Al-Khadir.

It is also because of the arrival of the Azari’lunn that fine jewelry and hand-crafted artifacts began to constitute a heavier share in the exporting goods of Al-Khadir. The natural resources, combined with the Azari’lunn’s inherited skills, have made Al-Khadir-made jewelry and glassware one of the most delicate in Eden.

In addition to the aforementioned goods, dyed products such as clothes, silk, carpets or tapestries also account for an essential portion in Al-Khadir’s export goods. This is largely attributed to the Akhadis’ preference for colorfulness in their daily decorations or clothes, where such preference has incidentally led to the gradual advancing of their dying technologies.

Some of the other less staple export goods of Al-Khadir includes fish or the according derivatives and ship-building technologies. These products share the common origin of being the long-possessed livelihood skills of the earliest Khadan inhabitants.

<u>Import:</u>

Despite the many valuable natural resources that spawn in the desert, Al-Khadir’s territory also lacks some essential, life-sustaining resources. A good example of which is freshwater, a variety of crops and meat-producing livestocks. Because of this, Al-Khadir depends heavily on the import of raw material and food. The Kingdom of Hadriana, being Al-Khadir’s biggest trading partner, usually takes the role of being Al-Khadir’s most essential importer of aforementioned goods.

Admittedly, Al-Khadir’s heavy reliance on Hadriana and this unbalanced scheme of exports and imports have created potential political problems between the two nations. One famous incident in the history of Al-Khadir is the embargo during the rotting plague, where Hadriana cut off all trades and left Al-Khadir isolated, indirectly wiping out 80% of Al-Khadir’s human population.

== <small>''Religious Beliefs''</small> ==
The Emirate of Al-Khadir is widely renowned for bringing forth excellent merchants, hardened warriors, daring adventurers and ever-inspiring artists.

The Akhadis take great pride in their work and will often be seen working tirelessly on their respective professions until the sun paints the sky in a beautiful mixture of golds and purples while setting over the vast sand dunes of the surrounding desert.

Nevertheless, exploring the well-illuminated and colorful streets of Al-Khadir, one couldn’t help noticing an absence of places of worship. This absence, unlike how some would suspect, is not due to the constant commercial hustle and bustle that dominates the streets in Al-Khadir; it isn’t just that, one would regularly find priests preaching in any other regions in Eden, whereas in Al-Khadir the sounds of the bustling streets would suppress any such religious attempts.

Instead, to many’s surprises, the absence of religious activities in Al-Khadir is mostly attributed to the fact that the Akhadis are arguably not as religiously enthusiastic as other inhabitants in Eden.

The primary reasoning behind this is that despite being open-minded people, the Akhadis highly encourage thinking for oneself and pursuing self-love as well as inner peace instead of pleasing others. Within everyday life there are many priorities which the Akhadis value, and simply put: religion isn't one of them.

This is however not to say that being devoted to a religion is prohibited and not a single Akhadi is religious. On the contrary, one is however simply free to forge their own path and believe in whichever deity he/she wishes as long as this doesn't go against the principles of Al-Khadir society.

Freedom of mind has long been a very important standard within Al-Khadir society, and this has resulted in a slight aversion towards individuals who wish to force something onto others, especially outsiders, with religion being a great example of that.

Besides that, it is quite well known that Al-Khadir's population consists mostly of Azari'lunn and the Khadan who both have their own separate religious beliefs. Yet both races believe that religious beliefs should be passed on from the elderly onto the next generation, teaching them about the past and allowing them to explore the world for themselves with the wisdom of their ancestors to guide them along their path.

These two religions of the Azari’lunn and the Khadans are, respectively, as follows:

<u>The Path,</u>

a philosophy exclusive to the Khadan way of living that focuses on finding inner-peace.

A Khadan's view of the world is heavily influenced by the unwritten rules of this sacred philosophy. It should be noted that The Path is not entirely a religion, as it is more of a life philosophy instead of worship.

In addition to all aforementioned reasons, the lack of places of worship can be explained through the fact that in specific the Azari'lunn firmly believe that their god will heed his children's call no matter their whereabouts.

It should also be mentioned that the Akhadis believe that worshiping and praying to their beloved god may be done on any occasion and is not limited to being done only within the confined walls of a place of worship.

<u>Pantheon of Fineall</u>,

a religion that is based around worshipping the god Fineall who is a part of the Pantheon of the Phoenix. This specific religion puts a heavy emphasis on loyalty, freedom and unity. The majority of this religion’s followers are Azari’lunn, but occasionally, Khadans who share an extremely close relationship with certain Azari’lunn could be influenced and persuaded to devote themselves to Fineall. However, generally speaking, one would rarely find anyone besides the Azari'lunn devoted to Fineall.
