Introduction

Chickens are birds that get held as pets very often. The main reason for people to keep chicken is because of the fact they lay eggs and because their meat is edible. However chickens are considered birds they don’t really fly. They certainly do have many typical bird characteristics like feathers,wings and a beak.

Behaviour

Chickens mostly wander around looking for food. They do this by pecking the ground. When they find something they grab it with their beak and eat it. If a chicken has a chick they look for worms or other food to feed to their little ones. Chickens have a pretty normal sleeping schedule, they sleep at night and are awake around the day.

Abilities

Because of the fact that chickens are birds, they have the ability to lay eggs and breed out eggs. Another ability chickens have is that they have great memory, a chicken can recognize over 100 faces. They also have a very strong color vision and they have a very complex way of communicating. Chickens are able to use at least 30 different vocalizations.
