And with its peak level of unrest, a huge earthquake shook the very bedrock of Dar Zenour. This quake destroyed the monolith, revealing an abyssal portal that released grotesque, altered creatures that resembled the Denur. Such beings induced a violent massacre on the fortress, indiscriminately murdering their peers. 			During the coming of the year 1524, the coastal regions west of Dar Zenour became home to the Hinterland refugees from the Second Hadrian Civil War led by self-declared Empress Isabella Van Leuveren. Having found the realm of Valegro and ruling it from the city of Catamora, Isabella got wind of the various riches and relics remaining untouched within the mountain stronghold of Dar Zenour. In a short time, the people began to live a luxurious and indulgent lifestyle, which led to a shortage of gold and riches. Isabella, not wanting to replace her comfort for necessities for her new-found realm, sought contact with a Denurian explorer named Skalar Brísingavaldr, who was driven by ambition to uncover the secrets the Denur race left behind in their fallen holds. With reckless disregard and now aided by Empress Isabella, Skalar ignored the solemn warnings of the past and brazenly opened the sporadic seals that Belegar Whitebeard had put in place. 			As they failed to obtain the riches within, Isabella ordered Skalar and his company to set fire to the first halls and seal the hold to smoke out the Demonic inhabitants. Skalar protested, now realizing why his predecessors had forbidden anyone from entering. Yet he found himself forced to proceed by the drawn blades of the Catamorian soldiers. After the deed was completed, the Denur cautioned Isabella and the people of Catamora about the consequences of their actions, hoping to awaken a sense of clarity in them. However, the citizens were too busy continuing their indulgent lifestyle, ignoring the warnings and instead falling even deeper into the debauchery. Realizing their words were disregarded, the Denur under Skalar decided to abandon the region to avoid the coming fate.

But as they went more and more into the obscure they realised that something went not quite right in the dark.		Months had passed without a word from Valegro. Burdened by the shame of his past failures and convinced that their suspicions of doom may have been unfounded, Skalar Brísingavaldr decided to walk through the open doors of Dar Zenour again in 1525. This time, a shadow of uncertainty shaded his determination as he and his troops advanced into the ominous fortress. But as they went more and more into the obscure they realised that something went not quite right in the dark. Noticing stacked corpses originating from the civilian population of Catamora, the Denur party made their way toward the capital of Valegro in blind panic, only to be greeted by the haunted sight of a city fallen to decay, ruin, and Demonic influence. Its population was slaughtered and consumed, and their homes were twisted and corrupted into new dwellings for Demons to fester and reside. Skalar's predictions had indeed come true. The Demon population of Dar Zenour, in retaliation for the fire set in the hold by order of Empress Isabella, had breached the barricades Skalar had established and feasted on the unsuspecting inhabitants of Catamora, turning the city into their second home. Unable to proceed deeper into the city and forced by dark forces spewing from the city after having spotted the Denur, Skalar and his company fled the region once more, leaving Catamora and Dar Zenour to their fate. Word would never come out until the then-Therri'cill Aldir'tor Zaithrall and his Elven scouting parties reached the ruined city during the second half of 1525.

			The shine of gold still fills the ancient corridors of Dar Zenour, even now piles of this precious metal can be found throughout the hold. The walls of its many mines are covered in gold ore. But the richest of the old Denur homes lie empty and strangely unplundered. As soon as one approaches the main gate the reason appears, great scratches on the walls and the broken down gate signal a great struggle. Further inside the tomb of the old lord is surrounded by bodies. Something old has decimated this entire hold. Who knows if it still roams these halls.
