Introduction

Palm trees are thin and tropical, and while they can grow coconut fruits, their main use is for their wood. They have a very unique and recognizable appearance with their fronds and bark.

Description

The palm tree is a medium-sized, thin tree that mainly grows in subtropical and tropical climates, particularly in the Jungle of Spiders and the beaches of the large archipelagos such as the Kanok Branch and the Dragon Isles. The palm tree is different from most traditional trees due to how the palm leaves form. The leaves don’t sprout from branches but drape off the tree's top. The leaves themselves are sleek and somewhat leathery and can grow to the size of a small human. The bark of the trees is unusually thin and flaky, with a very fine wood grain. It’s able to be pulled apart into thin strands and woven. Palm trees tend to produce coconut fruits that are edible and, due to their exotic nature, can even be considered an island delicacy by some and can be re-planted in sandy soil to domesticate the palm tree. A unique feature of the palm tree that most other trees don’t have is that its wooden trunks don’t grow outwards and retain the same thickness as they sprout upwards. If you were to cut down a palm tree, its trunks wouldn’t have the signature rings that other trees have. The wood itself can be very tough and can be easily turned into timber for various uses.

Usage

  • Palm Wood
Hardwood can be used as a substitute for other traditional hardwoods for different construction purposes.
  • Coconuts
The coconut is a fruit with a hard shell but a white, edible inside that is rich in taste. It also hosts large amounts of juice which taste similar to the inside.
