Introduction

Chitinous scourges of deserts, jungles, and savannas, Giant Scorpions are deadly arachnids with powerful pincers and a painful sting.

Habitat

Anjyarr and Delorwaki Savanna canyons. The Jungle Of Spiders.

Their lairs are located in mountainside caves as the preferred habitat of scorpions is beneath rocks and debris, which the canyons have plenty of.

Due to the large population of Giant Spiders in the jungles, the Scorpions often clash with these creatures. As spiders are also their favorite delicacy.

Description

Giant Scorpions may come in various colors, from multiple shades of red, yellow, and dark green, but are usually black.

Despite having six to twelve eyes - an obvious pair at the center of the carapace and two to five smaller eyes on each side - scorpions do not have good eyesight and mainly rely on their ability to perceive vibrations in the send.

The Scorpions' chelicerae (mouthparts) are each fitted with two sharp teeth like fangs, able to bite and hold onto their prey once in reach for consumption.

All Giant Scorpions, just like their smaller counterparts, are fitted with a large stinger, filled with venom.

Like their smaller cousins, Giant Scorpions too are "ovoviviparous." This means eggs hatch inside the mother, and the babies are born separately. Scorpions can have very small or very large litters, with the average litter size being around 12 scorplings.

Unfortunately, Giant Scorpions have been hunted a lot in the past and their population now is very limited, so much so that it is a rare case to encounter one of these proud specimens nowadays.

Behaviour

The vast majority of Giant Scorpions, like the regular scorpions, are nonsocial, solitary animals that interact only at birth, during courtship, or for cannibalism. They are often so aggressive that they are usually considered "inveterate cannibals."

These creatures usually live alone or in small groups, protecting nests or defending their food supply. Mother Scorpions eat their babies in severe cases if no means of food can be found, while male Scorpions turn to cannibalism way faster due to the conditions in the Anjyarr Desert.

Giant Scorpions are more aggressive than their smaller counterparts in general, not caring how big or small their prey usually is. The Scorpions usually feast on wandering animals, seeking to avoid humanoids. They're also afraid of fire, although it can make them panic resulting in a more aggressive behavior.

Hunting is done by burying themselves under shallow layers of sand or loose dirt where they lie in wait for prey to wander near.

Actions and Abilities

Giant Scorpion's agility: A Giant Scorpion can attack twice in its turn: Once with its pincers and once with its poisonous tail

Giant Scorpion's Poison: Anyone hit by the deadly sting of the Giant Scorpion will receive 1 HP damage on hit and rolls d4 for the effects of the poison:

2= The venom partially enters the blood flow and weakens its target, which receives 1d3 damage and is stunned for 1 turn.

3= The venom blackens half of the target's body, that has its max HPs halved for 1 IC day (Surplus HPs will be lost), then its skin will turn back to normal.

4= The target will have to pass a defense check higher than 10 or will have its HPs drop to 0. In case the target passes the roll, the effect will be #3.

A Giant scorpion is immune to its own venom.
