Introduction

A sand golem is a non-organic elemental being originating from the desert of Anjyarr. The name golem comes from their elemental counterpart, the stone golem, who inhabits the northern mountainous regions. The sand golem comprises various elemental components such as air, rock - preferable sandstone, and sand. The sand golem is powered by another magical component housed in the center of the being once it has taken shape. This rock of raw magic energy draws the features of the sand, shaping it into a body for its use. Upon inspection, the raw magic element was identified as being connected to both air and earth.

Appearance

The sand golem may reach between 3 meters (9.8 feet) to over 40 meters (131 feet) when taken shape. Due to its body being composed of sand or other natural materials and constantly shaping into different husks or materials, the body's weight can not be measured. After much study of the raw magic energy housed in the rock, serving as the heart and mind of the being, it has been revealed the rock also holds a life source, presumed to be a soul. How this came to be is unknown, yet the sand golem's history has been traced back to the time period of the ancient Anjyarr civilization. When the raw magic was drained out of the rock, the stone that was left simply shattered, and the life source that was still inside vanished.

The shape of the stone golems resembled that of a large humanoid. Being that certain limbs or body parts are out of proportion. A sand golem's lower half is either fitted with two legs to stand on or is attached to the ground itself, making it still able to move around. The head of the golem differs. Most golems prefer to have a featureless head. While others have the shapes of mouths or darkened eye sockets and even ears. The being is capable of producing sounds despite lacking the organs to do so. Albeit only roars and groans when showing the be in the emotional state of being angry or hurt.

Habitat

The golems inhabit the desert of Anjyarr. In both canyon regions and dunes. It does not travel outside of the desert, as its main body material is made out of sand and sandstone, earth and other types of stone seem to be too heavy for the raw magic energy to use.

Behaviour

It is unknown what drives these beings, as they seem to lay dormant for thousands of years, only to spontaneously awaken when someone is too close to their resting place. Upon studying its awakening cycle, it has been confirmed that humanoids with magical abilities seem to be the main cause of its awakening. The raw energy seems to feel the magical force from a mage or witch. The sand golem can also be awakened by raw force; when the rock is touched or moved.

Sand golems are aggressive beings; this is due to the chaotic energy that is housed within the raw magic rock. Their aggression is targeted not only on other beings and their environment but also their own kind. It is thereby speculated that sand golems could've started most sandstorms, or are sand golems themselves in combat. After their target has fled or been killed, they return to their dormant state and bury themselves deep into the earth. It is a guess that the raw magic rock does this for its own protection.

Abilities

A golem's abilities vary when it comes to its size. Sand golems use materials from nature to shape their body. Mainly sand and sandstone rock as it is light. It constantly sembles and reassembles itself in combat, growing limbs back when cut off from the main body. The being can shift into certain proportions as well. Growing in size even during combat. It is not capable of using certain objects as weapons. Instead, it uses the elements and raw force to kill its opponent. Extending his limbs to reach even further to either hit or grab his target. Depending on the material, a sand golem is always protected. Using rock elements to toughen its skin.

The golem however is able to be killed. By either the rock being destroyed or damaged, drained of energy or with fire magic; turning the golem into glass.
