A depiction of Feaeism's first followers. |
Introduction
Spirits and the ways of nature were long ago one of the key religions for the Azari'cerr. But they could not match the other religion, the Pantheon of the Phoenix. Thus Feaeism became a mere branch, their Spirits the servants of the Pantheon's Gods. But a lot of tradition has remained, and Spirits keep playing an important role in those that follow and those that don't follow Feaeism.
Beliefs
In feaeism, the followers believe in spirits. The purest and oldest form saw servants of this religion honor three types of spirits, White spirits, Black Spirits, and Blue Spirits. They believed the world was created by the Whites and protected by the Blues. In ancient times the White Spirits were the creators of the world and everything beautiful. They did this by singing, hence why a song is important in feaeism. White spirits are now believed to be the messengers of the Family of Gods, as angelic beings. Blue Spirits were believed to protect the woods, lakes, seas, and skies. They were often called 'River spirits' or 'Tree spirits' depending on what they protected. This idea has stayed true to this day. The followers of feaeism believe that everyone has a spirit guardian, a blue spirit that guards over them and guides them to their destiny. In a ritual, these spirits will eventually be bound to their soul by a family elder. The followers of feaeism believe in great balance, that darkness came just because there was light. And so, because there were the White Spirits, the Black Spirits came into existence. They sang to bring disease and fear. They are believed to be cursed souls of death and the void beyond our realm.
Practices
They attend all the ceremonies of the Pantheon of the Phoenix, like Father's day or Mother's day, and they have all the practices that the other followers of the Pantheon have. On top of this, other ceremonies differ greatly from family to family. Most families have a Night of Song, in which those with the most beautiful voice sing ancient songs written by the elves who followed feaeism long ago. These are always beautiful and are believed to be a song for the Gods. The families have forbidden all songs of fear written by dark followers of the Black Spirits, and those that break this rule will be banished, as these words, spoken or sung, bring nothing but a curse. Another important ceremony is when a family elder judges a youngling and binds their soul to a spirit guardian, a blue spirit who will guide them and watch over them.
Demographics
Feaeism is a branch of the Pantheon and is only believed in by very few families inside and at the border of Myln Arbor. It is not seen anywhere outside Myln Arbor, but ancient writings and songs can be found in old ruins across Eden. One of these families is the Leaftale family, but others are in the woods. However, the ancient form of Feaeism was for a long time used by the tieflings that lived in Nous, the wandering city. But after Nous fell, the tieflings adopted other religions based on what was lived, and very few still follow Feaeism.
History
Feaeism is a rare sub-belief, dating back to the first-ever elves that settled in and around Myln Arbor. Of the growing rival religion, the Pantheon of the Phoenix, Feaeism saw a great decrease in followers over the past centuries. Now, only very few families inside Myln Arbor believe in Feaeism, and it has fused with the Pantheon of the Phoenix as some branch.
