Introduction

Augel'garn, or Plague birds, are birds native to the Voidal Plane called Krugarn.

Unpleasant as alas now increasingly common, it’s a dreaded encounter in the swamps and places of Eden that are most corrupted and invaded by demonic entities.

These birds are famous not only because, like all creatures of Krugarn, they are putrescent and bearers of disease and death, but also because they are infamous to such an extent that they tend to ambush those who care most for natural life which they destroy with great pleasure.

Habitat

Any corrupted place of Eden, Lilith, Krugarn

Description

A Plague Bird appears as a small helpless creature similar to a small dark-colored crow about 10 cm long, which however takes care to hide its bright green eyes that on the other hand show off its sinister intentions and its true demonic nature.

They are diffused in the most corrupt places of Eden, like the swamps of Magna Attia.

Their small raven beak looks metallic, dripping poisonous odorless moss green liquid.

Behaviour

The Augel'Gran generally moves in flocks, and is notoriously a hunter, capable of devouring entire ecosystems and stripping all traces of carcasses, animals and men along the path of its flock.

It is native to the Krugarn Plane, although it prefers to spend most of its time in Eden and Lilith, since feasting on the flesh of the living is its favorite sport.

Their most notorious (and also most infamous) strategy for attacking the most dangerous travelers such as men or large magical creatures, is that they ambush by sitting motionless on the ground as if they're dead. Then they attack anyone who comes near the flock using their extreme number superiority.

Plague Birds could spread any type of disease with their toxic peck, but it’s almost assured you will get hit by its characteristic “Garn Toxin” when fighting them, which slows down your movement and reduces its prey reflexes.

In Combat

The Augel’Gran usually ambush their prey using strategies or wait for them to enter places where they are vulnerable, like low putrid waters or quicksand.

They attack using their beak, spreading their toxicity, and try to run away if the odds are heavily against them and see no chance to win.

Abilities

Toxic Peck The single Plague Bird one and only attack is their peck, that deals 1d2 damage

Garn Toxin The Plague Bird can infect the enemy it hits with the so-called “Garn Toxin”. This fever hits the reflexes of the target and slows it down. It lasts one week and reduces agility by 4, DC 12 Int saves from contracting it. (The effect doesn’t stack)

Fly: A plague bird can make two movements in one round, in three dimensions.

Krugarn Demon Traits Demons from Krugarn are immune to any disease effect, but they can contract any of them and be positive carriers, spreading any of them with their toxic attacks.

Flock Attack: An Augel’Gran can work as a flock when in a group of four. When they do, every Plague bird in a 10m radius can attack in the same turn (the Flock attack happens once per round), dealing 4 damage to each creature in an 4x4 square rectangle, without rolling any die;
