Introduction

The Water Hyacinth or Hyacinthus Aqustis is an invasive aquatic plant even outside its habitat. It is found in freshwater areas around Eden, where it grows exponentially, usually at the mouths of rivers or lakes and most commonly in temperate areas like the Heartlands or the Glade of Dragons.

Description

The water hyacinth comprises a few lily-like leaves at the bottom of the stalk near the river bed or the lake and a beautiful, light purple flower with cone-shaped petals covering the entire sides of this aquatic flower, often breaching the surface of the water. It smells sweet, attracting insects to spread the pollen that covers the entire body in cone-shaped petals that are sticky to the touch with the pollen that covers them. The flower is quite fragile, losing its petals with a little excessive shaking, requiring extreme care when handling this flower. The petals can also be bruised if handled roughly, and care must be taken not to tear or crumple them as they will quickly die. Although these plants are found all over Eden, they cannot be domesticated as their invasive nature is very difficult to replicate.

Usage

  • Petals
The petals are often used for decoration and are not edible.
  • Pollen
A sweet powder that can be made into natural honey to be eaten.
