New-Wakkerdam is a small village located in the North of Eden. It’s located near the river that runs from Lunburg to Raevkov. New Wakkerdam is known for growing crops and keeping animals. As a result, it plays a major role as a food provider for the inhabitants of The Tzardom or Raevkov. For the Hinterlanders it is not only the village of main food production, but also a village that brings with it many memories, both positive and negative. But most importantly, the residents have always remained positive and defeated adversities.

When the capital of Raevendrecht, now known as Raevkov, got expanded in 1529 citizens also worked hard to build New-Wakkerdam, a small village named after the [[The United Provinces of the Hinterlands|Old Wakkerdam]] . After about a year of living in calmness things in New-Wakkerdam start to happen again. On a cold night in 1531 the farms of New-Wakkerdam were destroyed again. Big footsteps ruined the farms and the walls around it, some of the houses were burned or extremely damaged, and many plants growing around the area got destroyed. In the middle of the path a big wooden skull was put there with iron poles around it with skulls on it. In the days after the trolls left their camp on the hill and kept attacking the village. In 1532 Hadriana started a war with Raevendrecht. Both nations battled for Flussland, an area located near New-Wakkerdam. Soldiers from the army of the empire of Hadriana came to New-Wakkerdam to attack people or to simply scare the citizens off. However the citizens of New-Wakkerdam didn’t let them scare them  away. They did end up evacuating to the capital at the end. The war ended with a huge battle between both nations near Lunburg, which ended near New-Wakkerdam.

After the war it took the citizens of New-Wakkerdam a while to rebuild everything destroyed by the war and to make sure all plants and cattle were healthy and safe. But with hard work the citizens set up the farms again and made sure the food providing village would work as it used to. The first big harvest after the war was one of the biggest and most successful harvests they ever had. That’s why Jinx van der Bijlkrijger, Elduin De Sylvanus and Daphne van Gravendrecht decided to make a plan to host a big fair next to New-Wakkerdam. People from around all of Eden traveled to the small village to sell their products and to enjoy a festival with multiple activities. The whole Fair was filled with music, games and the most delicious food and drinks.

In 1535 New-Wakkerdam gets terrorized once more, this time by the bonelord.  Shortly after the Festival a group of citizens were practicing the art of fencing during a training session. The village, made mostly of cultivated land, is Raevkov's most important source of food and a guarantee of the Tzardom's food self-sufficiency.

Its fairs and its houses, that still stand in their place, despite all the calamities, is a comfort to the Hinterlanders who see the encampment as a symbol of their indomitable ability to resist adversities. Its view has in fact a reassuring effect for the Hinterlanders, accustomed to a continuous struggle against the hostile climate and darkness of the Attia swamp

Location

New Wakkerdam is located in the Norlanden of Eden between Lünburg and Raevkov next to the river that runs along both.

History

When Raevendrecht, the Hinterlander's capital city now known as Raevkov, faced overpopulation in 1529, its council took the opportunity to expand the arable land for the poor farmers of the Norlanden. New-Wakkerdam is the result of this expansion: a small village that the Hinterlanders nostalgically named after their old capital: Wakkerdam .

The village's management was assigned to Jinx van der Bijlkrijger, Raevendrecht's grand pensionary who used to dabble as a farmer in her spare time.

At the end of 1529, Ghoul creatures started to appear east of the village.

Before the Hinterlander government could react, the dreaded undead creatures gathered in few days, destroyed the farms and attacked the villagers, before being defeated by the Orange Guard.

In 1530, the apparitions of ghouls became more and more frequent until on a cold night in 1531 the village was again laid waste by ghouls, this time together with trolls. Raevendrecht's army reacted by locating and destroying a nearby Troll camp in a punitive expedition.

In 1532 Hadriana started a war with Raevendrecht. The famous war between the Hinterlanders' and the Attians' factions also involved the small village, which was hit by some raids by Hadrian soldiers and that was also marginally involved in the great battle for the Flüssland, which saw the invaders victorious.

Post-war reconstruction was slow and expensive, as much of the small village was destroyed.

New-Wakkerdam's traditional fairs started on this occasion, when the Raevendrecht Grand Pensionary and honored guests inaugurated its reopening after the reconstruction.

New Wakkerdam's Fair brought prestige to the village, which also discovered a different purpose from that of a merely rural and agricultural economy

In 1535 an ancient and very powerful enemy of Eden appeared from the mists of the swamp, and with a massive force of undead he shocked the charming town: his name was The Bone Lord.

Within a few days, The Bone Lord disappeared, leaving only bleak desolation in New-Wakkerdam.

There was no further news of him, but the inhabitants, who rebuilt the village, never recovered from the trauma they suffered. An eerie silence envelops the village on foggy days, where the inhabitants often turn worried glances at the swamp.
