Introduction

Stone Golems are ancient beings, made of hard rock and ancient magic. The arcane power that moves them is strong and emanates from their jeweled core within their chest.

Inextricably linked to the magic of Kor, these arcane beings usually wander the mountains, near the Kor rifts or in ancient dwarven ruins lost in the underground.

It is believed in Denur Mythology that the Stone Golems are ancient Petromancer's souls that have lost their way to the afterlife.

Habitat

The Northern Mountains of Eden and their bordering regions. The Mountains of the Spine.

Description

The shape of the stone golems resembles that of a large, about 5m tall, humanoid. Certain limbs or body parts are out of proportion due to the variety of rocks used to shape them. The golem's legs are thick and mostly made out of connected boulders, that hold the weight and balance of the creature despite its shape.

They are beings of imposing size, covered in moss and sometimes also inhabited by small creatures.

The ground in their vicinity trembles as they pass and the birds become restless when these massive granitic beings bother enough to move.

The gemmed heart that powers them is rarely discernible from the outside, and is often buried in the larger boulder of their torso.

Behaviour

Stone Golems seem to lay dormant for even thousands of years, only to awaken spontaneously when someone is too close to their resting place.

When alone, a Stone Golem appears to be in a neutral state. Yet even in this state, they are quickly agitated and aggressive.

It is said that there were more golems in the past, and that some mountains or small hills' shape are the outcome of a stone golem battle.

After a long time of inactivity, a stone golem may find a place to rest and bury itself in a quiet place of Eden, where it blends into the environment.

The arcane core of the golem, shining with verdant Kor magic, is what moves them. The origin of these cores is not at all clear, and is said to be a direct alteration of an original stone of Eden such as Quartz or Granite by a titanic interaction with the plane of Kor.

It is possible that the history of the Golems' cores goes back as far as the creation of the planet. What is clear is that completely destroying one is nearly impossible, with the known materials on the planet.

Most of these golems do not speak and express themselves in a few simple gestures, which are difficult to interpret.

There are also rare cases of Golems which however have mouth-like openings in the stones that make up their stone. These rare exemplars can speak thanks to the Arcane magic that powers them

Abilities

Kor regeneration: A Stone Golem regenerates 1 HP/turn. When a Golem is defeated, it will never stop regenerating unless its core is removed from inside its chest. If the golem loses pieces, its internal core is able to replace them with others collected from the surrounding environment, which are as well moved by means of Kor magic

Slam Attack: The Stone Golem launches itself at the enemy, trying to break through its defenses with the hard rock of its body. The Stone golem attack deals 1d3+4 damage to a target in melee range.

Magical Stone Armor: The Stone Golem reduces every incoming damage by 2, both magical and not magical.

Golem: The Arcane golems are immune to any debuff.

Drops

Stone Golem Core. Even when the heart is removed from the golem's body, it keeps its heat and glow.
