Introduction
Cats are small animals. They have an average head-to-body length of 46 cm and have a height of 23 to 25 cm. Their tails are about 30 cm long and are thin and hairy. The skin of the cat is covered with a thick layer of fur. This fur can come in a lot of different colors, usually black, brown, gray, white or orange. There are also a lot of different patterns the fur can have.
Behaviour
Cats have a very special way of communicating. They purr to show they’re content with something, meowing just means that they want to say hello, hissing means they’re angry or defensive, yowling means that the cat is aggressive and chattering happens when a cat is hunting or tracking a prey.
Abilities
Cats have a lot of special abilities, most of them are related to their senses. One of these abilities is that they have a very adapted sense of smell. The roof of their mouth is structured. This enables them to taste what they smell. Another special thing about the cat is that the whiskers of a cat are thicker than ordinary hairs, have deeper roots and give important sensory information. Whiskers are very sensitive. They don’t have to touch an object for a cat to sense movement close to them. Cats also have the ability to run very fast. They can run about 30 miles per hour over short distances.
