Introduction

River Trolls are large humanoids that naturally live in Eden next to rivers when no civilized presence is there.

Usually history made their low intelligence be overcome by highly intelligent and numerous races and flee.

But when the human or elven races disappear from a place, these ancient inhabitants inevitably return to their original home.

Sometimes their small communities even grow in numbers, in swamps or other wet biomes and try to expand their territory, pressing on human borders.

When this happens, they start eating some cattle, then some inhabitant and in the end if left unchecked can even trespass and invade a territory .

Habitat

Any wild place near a swamp or another source of freshwater.

They usually prefer the Magna Attia region, but can get anywhere thanks to their advanced swimming ability

Description

These colossal creatures have dark sea green scales, usually stinking and covered in moss and seaweed. Some fur eventually grows on their arms and back for better protection although their troll resistance and regeneration is proverbial.

A river troll is usually about 3m tall, with no differences between males and females.

They are normally very muscular, have red shining eyes, strong legs and very long arms with sharpened claws.

Their head is small compared to their body (as it’s their brain). They have no nose, a huge terrifying mouth with long fangs and small fins on the sides of their skull.

Luckily for the people who wander Eden, they normally seem to have a crude but not aggressive attitude from a distance, and wear some cloth to cover their genitalia.

Behaviour

All trolls have a high regeneration factor and are immune to voidal magic such that many historians believe that the advent of civilization and the troll fall as a race helped the advent of voidal forces, since the trolls are a sort of Eden’s natural antibody to voidal corruption.

There aren’t many differences between male and female specimens.

As other mammal races they are very protective of their children, although they don’t make many and are usually left in their den, when the parents wander around in search of food.

Like other trolls do, River Trolls spend most of their days eating, and they like to eat anything: animals, people, carcasses, berries, vegetables and when they’re starving even trees or rubbles.

When a troll is hungry he gets out of control and it’s normally the moment he trespasses civilized borders.

River Trolls are specialized fishers and sometimes venture into the ocean, although they do it when their need of food becomes urgent, for they prefer the land.

They also like to collect the “prizes” from their prey, that pile in their dens they “build”, digging holes underground.

They value gold and silver as much as human skulls.

Trolls do not talk and express using single words like “ME HUNGRY!” or “DESTROY!”

You’d never meet more than a maximum of two river trolls, as they live in familiar nuclei until their children grow up and they split into more familiar nuclei (that therefore will look for more lands to occupy).

In Combat

The troll will always try to get armed before entering combat with anything in the scenario (a tree or a piece from a building), and then just SMASH their enemies with their brute force, possibly not using any brain sophism.

Abilities

Troll Regeneration: The River Troll has a light constant regeneration of 1hp/round. Can heal from every sickness, it’s immune to poisons and any type of voidal magic.

Troll Strength: The Troll’s strength is just superior to any other humanoid race of its size. The River Trolls can use a club or any item similar to a club up to 5m long, doing even more damage.

Attack (armed): When armed the Troll deals 2d6 damage to a 2x3 area (His weapon will break after 1d3 hits)

Attack (unarmed): When unarmed the Troll deals 3d3 damage

River Swimmers: River Trolls feel at ease in water almost as much as on land. They can swim at 10 blocks/turn and take half damage from aquamancy spells.

Drops

Their hoard, if their den is found.
