Introduction

To the far north of Eden where the Spine reaches its end lie the Dzrathas mountains. A large mountainous patch that connects the two large ranges of The Spine of Eden and Eden’s Tail. It is a dangerous and ruthless land that only the bravest pilgrims dare to venture into for to those that come unprepared, only death awaits, not only at the hands of the elements, but at the hands of the Elements and the Elemental Spirits that made this corner of Eden their home. For in the center of this range, daring wanderers will find a humongous silver spire towering over the surrounding landscape where the creatures of the Aether rule, and only those who are dedicated to wielding the arcane power of the Aether realm will find shelter from the biting surrounding winds.

Geograpgy

The mountains of the Dzrathas range themselves are untouched and untamed by mortal hands and contain some of the highest peaks on the continent. The range as a whole spreads from where the spine touches the northern mountains all the way to where Eden’s Tail breaks off from the larger range. Between these frozen peaks lie small valleys where frozen streams and rivers are located that come down from the mountains and make their way north beyond the borders of the continent deep into the Ancient Giant Lands. The region seems relatively stale at first glance, however, these looks can be deceptive as even though the mountains seem uninhabitable and impossible to build on by any mortal means, it is under these peaks where civilization crept into this far corner of the world. At the eastern corner of the range lies the Denur stronghold of Dar-Gur, an almost impenetrable hold occupied by the engineering clans the Guild of Cogs who have claimed these depths under the mountains as their own. Using the many vast networks of caves and tunnels to spring forth their empire of the depths using machinery to move from place to place throughout the entire region swiftly.

History

The untamed peaks of the Dzrathas mountains are as old as the continent itself, forming from the north and eventually springing forth many sub-ranges in the form of Eden’s Spine and Eden’s Tail. However, even though these mountains have stood there since the beginning of time, there is little known about these majestic peaks and their history. It is rumored that the origin of its only noteworthy surface structure, the Lunar Spire, is a product of the ancient Elven war known as the Age of Fallen Spires when Elven Spellcasters had a battle in the far north which eventually led to an unstable tear to the Aether being left in its wake. The creatures and spirits that eventually came forth and nestled in the area from this tear built a fortress that is said to be so lavish and alien in its construction that it is a product of the Aether realm itself and that it will collapse in on itself if the tear inside is ever closed, for it is the magic of the tear that keeps the building standing. Thus far, it has stood the test of time and nothing has ever truly threatened the heart of the spire. The mountains themselves will stand for another eternity, disturbed or not for these ancient peaks care little for the little ones that crawl between them. They will indefinitely stand as a barrier between the mortal races and what lies beyond, standing watch, forever.
