Dotting the campfire and bedtime stories of folklore, myths by the dozens revolve around these mythical beings. Often the aftermath of an excursion into graveyards by teenagers or gravediggers. These resulted in numerous tales of ghosts and other spirits that watched over areas where the dead were laid to rest. Yet, every legend and myth has its truth, as many originate from the Soul Echos, Spirits of the Past.

Soul Echos are known to have no physical state, instead, they move around within a specter-like body. This body is created through their bound Souls, as such it does allow them to pass through the most common matters as their Soul is able to bypass such. Yet, while this may be the case they can not physically interact with the matter, unless they use their bound Soul to create semi-physical body parts, such as a temporary stone hand to pick something up. Passing through such a body is often causing the body to become distorted, similar to someone walking through a thick fog, flowing around one's body.

While such a specter-state exists, the heart of a Soul Echo is the catalyst that was used to bind their Soul to the current realm instead of allowing it to pass on. Such a catalyst is normally formed when a person dies, while holding a major grudge, wish or desire, becoming a prison for the Soul of the person. While the catalyst is a solid object - it is also one of the major weaknesses of a Soul Echo, damaging or destroying it would cause the Echo to be killed, allowing their Soul to be sent onwards.

Habitat

Soul Echos normally wander throughout the areas near their original graves or places where they died, as such marking the surrounding land as their territory. While this may be the case they aren’t necessarily bound to those places, being able to leave the parameters in their search. Once they leave their original parameters they will start to explore more and more of their surrounding areas, expanding their previous parameters by doing so. Next to such Soul Echos aren’t known to form any groups, it even appears as if Soul Echos can’t see or even notice one another, sometimes even passing through one another without noticing it.

Behaviour

Soul Echos are known to show a rather docile behaviour, often searching for something or someone, while not knowing what exactly they are searching for. As such one may find a Soul Echo visiting the graves of their beloved ones, wandering throughout the graveyard, only to vanish into thin air. However, while such docile behaviour is common for Soul Echos they can also show aggression towards people, most commonly when the person is trying to stop the Soul Echo from finding what they are searching for. The same does also apply to anyone attempting to harm or damage the catalyst before the Soul Echos wish, desire or grudge was taken care of.

Abilities

Soul Echos are capable of acting like a Poltergeist, being able to move objects by utilizing their very soul. While such may be the case the Soul Echos are also able to form semi-physical body parts, such as a temporary stone hand to pick something up. Due to such they have finer control over what and how they want to move an object.
