Introduction

The swamp-swarming and odd-looking amphibians that most of Eden knows for their peculiar body functions and great placidness strangely led to frogs being an icon of wisdom.

Description

Frogs are docile and characterized by their unique appearance. They have a plump body with short limbs and a head that’s directly connected to the trunk. The common frog has a slimy and smooth texture as if it could slip right out of someone’s hand if they tried to grab it. Their skin has a wide range of colors and unique patterns that help them camouflage into their surroundings, meaning it’ll usually be colors of nature, like brown or green. Frogs also possess both a florid and acrid aroma, akin to the swamps that are brimming with them. Also, they often croak to attract other frogs, making it audibly evident when one is nearby. Adult frogs can reach up to only 13 cm in length which makes them one of the tinier creatures of Eden.

Behavior

Just like their appearance, the way frogs maneuver is unusual, utilizing their rear legs to leap. They do this to evade the sight of predators or people in an instant, this becoming especially useful in forests where they can easily disappear into surrounding vegetation. This is the only option for them since frogs are harmless and have no useful skills for defending themselves.

The appetite of the common frog is diverse, and they’ll consume pretty much anything that can fit in their mouth but they’ll mostly prey on insects. This is effortless for them, as they have a tongue that can shoot out at incredibly fast speeds. They can snatch a fly from the air and straight to its mouth in mere moments, before it even knew it was being eaten. Another facet of frogs is their ability to breathe underwater for months at a time, being one of the few creatures to live both underwater and on land.

Habitat

Bringing the sound of life to Eden’s swamps with concurrent croaks and leaps, Frogs inhabit these damper regions. Since their skin requires freshwater, you will never find them near the ocean’s shore. However, frogs have adapted to several other areas like lakes or streams. You may find them atop a lilypad, down in the water, or possibly hiding in a bush to snatch an unsuspecting insect from the air.

Abilities

Being a tiny animal, frogs can use their agility to elude a mundane attack and swim away.

Drops

- Frog legs

The only edible part of the frog. People can snap it off if they wish to keep it and use it for a recipe.
