Introduction

Donkeys are hoofed mammals who belong in the same family as horses. Usually donkeys are gray, brown or black. Most donkeys have stripes on their back and shoulders. These stripes form a characteristic cross pattern on their backs. Donkeys look a lot like their cousins, the horses. The biggest differences between the two are the long, floppy ears and the fact that they tend to be stockier than horses.

Behaviour

Donkeys are mostly known for their stubbornness. This has been attributed to them having a stronger sense of self-preservation than horses. It is most likely because of the fact that they have a stronger prey instinct and because of their weaker connection with people. That’s why it’s more difficult to force or scare a donkey into doing something.

Abilities

Donkeys are pretty strong animals, they have the ability to lift heavy things on their back. This is one of the main reasons why people use them to move or lift heavy things. Donkeys have the ability to calm other animals with their comforting and calming countenance. They also have great hearing abilities, they can hear another donkey from 60 miles away.
