Introduction

Fey caps are strange little rainbow-colored spore mushrooms that can grow on trees in any forest. Though, they typically grow around fairy or pixie habitats. This highly reactive plant releases a colorful and sparkly spore cloud whenever a creature touches one of the spores on the mushroom or if the plant senses too much motion nearby. This spore cloud causes extreme confusion.

Eating the mushroom spores raw also triggers the same effects but worse and is a serious health risk. Despite the devastating effect, the taste is sugary-sweet. Also known as Mediocris Pileos, these rare fungi are only harvestable on Starfall of Greenfall!

Description

The fey cap mushroom looks like a typical mushroom, being small in size but is instead brightly colored. The top of the mushroom cap is typically red or purple, while the underside is myriad colors. It has many small spores, typically pink, with little swirly patterns.

The stalk of the fey cap is smooth, like a damp surface, but is dense and porous on the inside. Typically red or purple, the cap has a small fuzzy feeling due to the small hairs lining the cap's skin, like a peach! While most mushrooms smell like fish, the fey cap has a slightly different smell. A fey cap does smell like fish but also has hints of an apple. Due to the taste of the fey cap, it developed defensive mechanisms against its predators. Spores, when released, cause the predator to think the herb tastes bitter when licked.

Usage

Though harvesting the Fey Cap is tricky, alchemists will find it quite useful for party tricks.

  • Spores
The plant's spores can be harvested from the mushroom, although it is a rather tricky task. The spores can be used in brewing, adding a hallucinating effect to the mixture.
  • Cap
The cap of the mushroom can be harvested and used for alchemy means. As soon as the spores are removed, the cap is edible and can be served as a snack. The taste of the mushroom is different every time, so that it could be a treat or punishment.
