Prelude

The Flüssland Peasant Revolt, or uprising as some word it, was an event that took place between the years of 1547 and 1549 in the North-Western regions of the Hadrian Empire known as Flüssland. Towards the last quarter of 1547 A.F.S., Zladimir de Tiri was named Reichsmarshall of the Imperial Armed Forces as a reward for his steadfast defense against the Lord of Bones who had been ravaging his home province of Flüssland of which he was Markgraf. Yet he grew evermore dissatisfied with the Crown's role within the conflict as he deemed them incompetent when they failed to make the needed alliances to stand against the undead tide, and only sent meager forces north to aid the Markgraf in need. During this growing tension Zladimir also got his hand on supposed evidence that painted the Kaiserin of the Hadrian Empire, Veredra von Lichtenfelts, as a Voidal sympathizer, and they chose to blame her for the problems the north faced. Claiming that Emperor Diederick had been put under a spell and was being used as a puppet by her. This sentiment was allowed to fester and rot under the local populace who felt ever more disconnected from the supposed rotten Empire and instead turned their hopes to the Warmaster Zladimir who had sworn to root out and destroy all Chaotic powers within the lands of Eden as his vow as Witch Hunter demands. This resentment and distrust of the Crown led to Markgraf Zladimir declaring independence on the 23rd of Sunfall, 1547. This was followed by a declaration from the Temple of Alder’s Head Inquisitor, Zladimir’s uncle Aleksander, who declared for Zladimir and demanded Veredra’s trial and execution, and a dismantling of the current regime at the threat of all-out war if the crown would not comply. Silence followed as it took time for the news to reach Adelsburg where the crown and its supporters denied the demands, and thus the newly-independent province was established with its spears turned to Adelsburg.

Timeline

1547 A.F.S.

  • Following the growing dissatisfaction of Zladimir de Tiri's forces and people on Flüssland, the Markgraf decides to declare independence on the 23rd of Sunfall, 1547, and establish the Principality of Volgrad.
  • The Temple Branch of the Inquisition led by Zladimir's uncle, Aleksander de Tiri, declares for Volgrad and publishes a list of demands to make hostilities cease.
  • Brüder Gottfried of the Cult of Mortius declares Brüder Aleksander possessed and biased, denouncing his declaration and thus ripping the Temple into two factions.
  • Herzog Janczyck-Mariusz Tzyrnowski strips Zladimir of all his official titles he held in the Empire.
  • Graf Friederich von Bergwald-Holstein would encounter rebel leader Zladimir himself as he tried to sneak through Imperial Lands on his way back to Flüssland as he came back from Al-Jabrid. He was attacked and ambushed on the road by Friederich's forces aided by Herzog Janczyck but managed to narrowly escape.
  • As the dust of the initial declarations settled and the sides were more clearly formed, Vater Gregor von Volker published works asking for everyone to evade war if possible and declared neutrality among the Attian factions fighting.
  • At this news, Imperial Forces occupy Vater Gregor's home in Adelsburg in an attempt to intimidate the Vater into choosing their side after which he would mysteriously die only a few days later. Volgrad claimed the Vater to be poisoned as Imperial sources claim the stress got too much for him and that made him pass as he was a frail man.
  • Brüder Gottfried, as the only active high-standing clergyman became the defacto religious leader in the Empire as a result of this.

1548 A.F.S.

  • Kaiser Diederick ordered caution in approaching the rebels as he did not wish to risk needless spilling of blood and instead chose a strategy that came down to isolating Zladimir's Principality politically and letting the Lord of Bones finish him off to ensure not a drop of Loyalist Hadrian Blood would needlessly be spilled.
  • A diplomatic battle between the two ensued as both sides sent letters and paid visits to the other Kingdoms, mainly Luminion, and Mitrona, in an attempt to rally them to their cause. Mitrona signed a secret alliance with Diederick while Luminion declared neutral even though Therri'cill consort Fynenar II Aey'flir, a friend of Zladimir wished to aid his newfound state. Yet Cirlia Zaithrall denied it.
  • Spies and thieves of Zladimir's court snuck into the Imperial Palace after months of back and forth between them and palace guards where they uncovered Veredra's hidden archives which they promptly looted. Taking her reports and spy contracts.

1549 A.F.S.

  • The conflict as turned into a stalemate as Volgrad refused to attack the Empire and the Imperial Forces held off in the borderlands. Not engaging the rebels as they waited for the Lord of Bones' march.
  • on Harvestday the 26th of Starfall, 1549, Markgraf Zladimir was assassinated by undead infiltrants sent by the Lord of Bones, decapitating the rebellion by taking its leader out of nowhere.
  • As this went on, Diederick had enough of the rebels and the inaction of the undead forces and ordered a host of soldiers north to Lunburg to put down the rebellion by force after all.
  • As the men marched north, news of Zladimir's death reached them and they hastily finished their march, entering Lunburg unopposed. The de Tiri family had completely vanished and the remaining peasants bent the knee and were granted a pardon.
  • The occupation of Lunburg and reintegration of the province of Flüssland officially ended the war on Marketday 30th of Starfall, 1549
