Myln Arbor is located in a geographically generally beneficial position, ranging from temperate climate in the north to wet oceanic, almost tropical climate in the south. Especially the southern climate is heavily influenced by the warm streams of The Sapphire Sea, as well as subtropical winds blowing over from the Delorwald Savanna. Both of these turn the southern part of Mitrona into a tropical, humid climate zone. In the north however, a vastly different climate is present. The huge mountains to the east prevent maritime winds and clouds from moving into the Glade of Dragons, and the warm winds from the south-west usually don’t reach as far north as these lands. Therefore, the north features a largely continental climate, colder and more dry than the south. While this may sound vastly different from the south, the difference isn’t as great as it sounds. The average temperature still only varies by 3-5°C, and the vegetation only slightly changes.

Introduction

The Forest of Myln Arbor is a magical place, and it's home to a wild people, the Azari'cerr. Walking through the forest, a visitor gets an amazing view what nature at it's peak can look like, as the woods feature giant trees and plants that can't be found anywhere else in Eden. Though, a traveler traversing the forest can also easily fall victim to one of the many beasts that call Myln Arbor their home. Flora and Fauna rival each other for the title of "Most Absurd Environment" here, it's a wonderous yet dangerous place.

Settlements

Myln Arbor is settled by Wood Elves, most of them living in the capital of The Woodland Realm of Mitrona, the city of Mitrona. It is located in the mid-easter section of the forest, bordering the snowy mountains to the east. A system of paths reaches all throughout Myln Arbor, although many corners are not connected to it.

Geography

Surface structure

The ground in Myln Arbor is generally speaking relatively flat, although it features quite some hills elevating as high as 85 meters above sea level. Within the entire area of Myln Arbor, no major valleys can be found. Smaller, gently descending valleys are located in between the masses of hills. The landscape generally gets flatter towards the west, and the elevation usually increases towards the east and the mountains of Eden’s Tail which can be found there. The shores to the ocean in the south and the rivers in the west aren’t very steep, but gruff. Only small beaches formed along the river, although one or two medium-sized ones can be found too. The landscape under the water surface remains relatively shallow, and only slowly descends to greater depths farther out in the ocean.

Soil

The soil within the forest of Myln Arbor is unusually fertile, which results mostly from the parent rock underneath it, oceanic basalt. The fertility of the soil has also massively profited from the century-old forest growing on top of it. The organic material being submerged in the earth over the course of the past 1500 years have greatly contributed to today’s soil. Despite the gradual increase in fertility, the soil has always been far more fertile than the surrounding ground. Before 300 BFS, the river periodically flooded approximately a quarter of today’s forest area. This meant that tons of clay, minerals and nutrients came flooding down from the inside of the mountains to the north. The soil reaches a depth of 190-230cm, which is considered very deep. This contributes to the enhanced growth of large plants. The soil has a dark color, indicating the large portion of organic content featured in it. Bigger and smaller particles are held in good balance, which causes the good level of water drainage and the unhindered flow of air. The southern parts of Myln Arbor also are affected by sand and dust particles transported over from the Delorwald Savanna by tropical winds.

Hydrosphere

No actual rivers flow through Myln Arbor, the most commonly used fresh water source are the creeks periodically coming down the mountainside during Starfall and Firstseed. Those feed into hundreds of small ponds scattered throughout all of the eastern part of the forest. During The Emerald Dusk, these lands are incredibly wet and fertile. In the shallow valleys between the hills, small swamp-like landscapes emerge only to disappear after 1-2 months. The only non-periodical water stream flowing in the area is the big river cutting the Glade of Dragons in half. Before the Age of Fallen Spires, when the Azari’sol were inhabiting the lands of Myln Arbor, the river was absolutely indispensable for the survival of the nearby peoples. In recent decades, it’s still an important source of water for every nation in the region, however the inhabitants have gotten better at using the periodic floods from the mountains. The ocean to the south has never been an important body of water for the inhabitants of Myln Arbor, though in recent years the wood elven interest in it has steadily grown.

Climate
