The Reinarian Ragdoll is a distinguished breed, which has been domesticated for decades by the citizens of Reinar. Characterized by its substantial size, its long, silky coat and its uncommon eye color, this breed possesses a calm and relaxed temperament, while still showing a strong affinity and affection towards human companionship. While maturing at a fairly slow rate those cats have an elongated lifespan if compared to other cat breeds, making them perfect pets.

Physical Appearance

The Reinarian Ragdoll is a common cat species, which has its origin within the Crownlands of Eldland. Similar to other cat species, which fall into the ragdoll category, they are large, long-haired felines, known for their striking appearance. The body of the Reinarian Ragdoll stands between twenty and a half to forty centimeters in height, while weighing between three and a half to eight kilograms, giving this cat breed a rather large and sometimes roundish body shape, which is only accentuated by the thick coat of fur that covers this breeds body.

The head of the Reinarian Ragdoll holds a broad and rounded shape, with a short and often gently sloping nose and a firm chin, while the ears of the species are of medium size, being rounded at the tips and usually adorned by fine tufts of hair. Unlike other species of ragdolls this species doesn’t possess icy blue eyes, but rather a set of rounded eyes, which possess a vivid amber hue, ranging in tone from golden yellow to a dark bronze color.

Like nearly all species of cats this species also possesses a tail, which is long and plume-like, often carried low when relaxed but capable of graceful movements when alert. At the same time the ragdoll also possesses a set of paws on the end of each of their legs. Each of the paws are large, round, and well-furred, adding to the impression of a robust yet elegant build, while also hiding the sharp, partly-retractable claws of this species.

Besides such the whole body of the Reinarian Ragdoll is covered by a thick layer of fur, which is typically cream or of a pale beige color at the base, accented by darker shades of brown, coffee, or sepia near the extremities, such as the face, ears, legs and the tail of the breed. Due to the thickness and length of the coat of fur, it requires regular grooming, as its length and texture are prone to matting, though it is less dense than that of some longhaired breeds, making upkeep more manageable.

Mental Characteristics

The Reinarian Ragdoll possesses, like most other ragdoll species, a calm and perceptive nature. Like most ragdolls, it tends to be gentle, affectionate, and people-oriented, displaying a marked tolerance for handling and close contact. These cats are known for their “floppy” relaxation when picked up, often hanging down from one's arms or lap. Besides such behaviour the Reinarian Ragdolls are intelligent animals, quick to learn household routines and capable of forming strong associations between sounds, objects, and experiences, which can most often be noticed during their regular feeding schedule. If their schedule gets delayed they often start meowing loudly, as to notify their owner to feed them.

Their problem-solving abilities are also moderate, they are not as single-mindedly curious or mischievous as some other breeds, but they do show persistence when motivated, especially by play or food. Their large, amber eyes enhance the impression of awareness as they often watch activities quietly from a favored perch, giving the sense of an animal that prefers observation before action.

Lifespan and Development

Like any other cat the kittens of the Reinarian Ragdolls are life born, appearing more like furry potatoes in the first few moments of their life, just to stretch their limbs for the first time and releasing their first sounds shortly afterwards. From birth, ragdoll kittens grow at a steady pace, but they mature more slowly than many other domestic breeds. Their kittens are often born smaller and more fragile as other breeds, causing their general development to be slower. As such they will attempt to open their eyes typically after two to three weeks after being born, revealing their cloudier and lighter eyes, which deepen into their golden or bronze hues once the kittens reach adolescence. Besides their eyes the Renarian Ragdolls coat also changes with age as the fur begins short and fluffy but lengthens and becomes silkier during their development, with darker colorations near their extremities intensifying throughout kittenhood and early adulthood.

By six months, they reach adolescence and maturity, displaying longer limbs and a somewhat lanky build, though their calm temperament is already apparent. They are slower to fully develop muscle tone and body mass compared to other cats, often not reaching their full adult size and coat quality until three to four years of age. This extended growth period contributes to their reputation as a late-maturing breed.

The general lifespan of a Reinarian Ragdoll is relatively long compared to other purebred cats, averaging twenty to twenty two years of age. It is assumed by scholars that this elongated lifespan is based on their slower development, as the body takes lengthy periods of time to mature and grow to its full size. As they age, ragdolls typically retain much of their gentle temperament, though older individuals may become less playful and more reserved. Senior ragdolls, like other cats, start to grow greyer fur as they age, often lightening their darker fur spots by a few hues as well.

Territory and Grouping

The Reinarian Ragdolls are primarily companion animals and only have a very limited territory, being the very home of their owners. Within said homes they tend to establish preferred resting spots, such as near sources of warmth, on soft furniture, or in elevated vantage points, yet they are generally less territorial than many other domestic cats. Unlike breeds that guard their chosen space aggressively, ragdolls usually permit other animals or people to share their area without conflict, though they may quietly relocate if disturbed.

Besides such these cats are not known for any aggressive grouping behaviour, instead being rather calm and possessed around others of their own kind and often around other animals, such as smaller dogs or other cats.

Abilities

Possessing a blend of physical and sensory abilities the Renarian Ragdoll reflects both its domesticated nature, but also its feline heritage. Physically and once it has reached adolescence, it is a large and fairly muscular cat, being capable of sudden bursts of strength and endurance, which it can use for moderate leaps or speedy sprints. However, after lengthy sprints or plenty of movement the Renarian Ragdolls require a lengthy rest to restore their energy.

Besides their physical abilities the cat heavily relies on it’s sensory abilities. Their vision excels in low light, granting them the same nocturnal awareness common to most cats, while their acute hearing allows them to detect subtle sounds that humans would miss. Their sense of smell, though not as developed as those of the Kronstadt Shepherd or other dogs, is keen enough to recognize individuals, detect food, and track minor changes in their environment.
