Being known as a chaotic space between the realms, the Void is also home of strange beings of grotesque appearances and the beings, which are commonly described as demonkin. Following the legends and descriptions the Void is rarely a place of peace, rather a place of brawling monstrosities and demons as those beings are often trying to become more superior than their closest kin.

History

The exact origin of the Void can’t be dated back to a specific date, however, it is assumed that it was created alongside the other realms, acting as a buffer or barrier, while still allowing both Realms to interact with one another. As such the Void was once created to act as a membrane between the Realms, allowing them to interact with one another, while stopping one side to enter the other permanently.

First connections and signs of the Void in the realm of Eden can be dated back to the early days in which the veil between the realms was still thin and easily influenced. Back then the first signs of voidal corruption and taint could be found all over the realm, often springing forth ancient legends of monsters that appeared in cities and landscapes. Those legends are nowadays assumed to originate from voidal creatures entering the realm of Eden through a weakened point in the veil, allowing them to feed on their newly found prey.

Geography

The Void is known as the space in between realms, as such the entirety of the space is filled with endless darkness. While such may be the case, the most interesting part of the Void is it’s atmosphere, often being described as being in the depths of the ocean, while also being in a place of nothingness, as no existing matter is surrounding a person while being in the Void. The bits and pieces of the voidal terrain, which exist, are often described as rocky and brittle islands, which seemingly hover within the Void. Tiny amounts of dead shrubs are seen growing on those lands, most of them being gnarled and deformed by the surrounding atmosphere.

The breathtaking experience of being in this space of darkness is the horizon of the surrounding sky. One may think that the horizon would be a simple black color, however, unlike many beliefs a strange phenomenon occurs, as the sky is covered by stars and even the plants, which can normally be seen on Eden. Many researchers are assuming that the Void is displaying aspects of the other realms, as it is filling in the space in between them.

Civilizations

While it would be natural to assume that in such a dark and creepy place no civilization would survive, in reality it’s far from the opposite. The inhabitants of the Void, commonly referred to as demonkin, have evolved over aeons, turning into beings of immense power. While they evolved many of their kind started to form smaller civilizations, places in which they would gather and places at which the strongest one would rule. However, fairly little is still known about their civilizations and their behaviour towards other beings.

Fauna & Flora

Known for it’s unique geography the Void is home to a few creatures, yet, no flora seems to be alive within the voidal realm. The most common creature is the parasitic Souleater, a mushroom-like being. Often holding the appearance of a fluffy ball of mold this being is always emitting a strong smell, which is based on pheromones. These pheromones are causing other creatures to fall in a trance-like state and force them to devour the creature. Once done the parasitic nature of the Souleater awakens, draining the other creature from all of it’s nutrients and liquids, mummifying it in the process. After finishing it’s meal the creature will break out of the dried shell and search it’s next prey.

While such is the case many creatures are often resembling odd shapes or monstrosities from legends, such as the Faceless. Those creatures would normally be classified as demonkin, however, do not show any real intelligence. Their appearance is that of a human, yet, it’s body's covered in veins and a slimy substance, while they do not seem to hold a face. Usually the creature is hovering around in the Void, yet, once another being comes too close to it, a loud rumbling noise can be heard coming from the creature. If another being touches it, even after the loud noise, the Faceless will seemingly act like a sticky-trap, binding the other creature to it’s own body, only to absorb the mass into it’s own body.

Many people assume that the Void holds far more creatures, however, as the Void is fairly hard to explore and to be researched not much is really known about the other creatures and beings of the Void.
