The Kyphret Vine is a monstrous voidal creature that resembles a massive stationary plant with an otherworldly crimson appearance. It is the result of dark magical experiments gone wrong, and its sentient mind guides its insatiable desire to devour and corrupt all that it encounters. Its tendrils serve as arms, ensnaring and draining the life force from any creatures that come too close. Despite its immobility, the Kyphret Vine can grow to immense sizes, capable of dwarfing even the largest buildings and structures. It corrupts and twists the environment around it, turning fertile land into barren wastelands and transforming once-vibrant ecosystems into dark and foreboding landscapes. The scent of the Kyphret Vine is nauseating and unnatural, a clear sign of its malevolent nature. It is said that the very air around it becomes corrupted, poisoning those who breathe it in and causing sickness and decay in all living things. The Kyphret Vine is a creature to be feated, and many tales warn of the dangers of venturing too close to its domain. It is a living nightmare, born from the darkest of magics of the universe, and its tendrils serve as a warning to all who would challenge its dominion.

Behaviour

The Kyphret Vine is a very intelligent creature that behaves in a mixture of passive and aggressive ways. While it is capable of consuming animals, humans, and all manner of folk, it is completely stationary beyond the growth of its tendril arms. A strange function of the creature’s intelligence, the vine is able to commune with its potential prey should it come into direct contact with the vine’s hide. Some individuals fortunate enough to survive close proximity to it report that the beast is capable of intelligent conversation, eerily similar to the people of Eden broadly.

As such, the creature is incredibly dangerous. It is hostile to any and all things living and not under its influence, looking to constantly feed itself. To date, it is not known to accommodate any friendliness to anyone, despite its ability to converse with those nearby. That said, very little in the way of experiments have ever been attempted in that arena.

Abilities

The Kyphret Vine possesses a set of formidable abilities that make it a truly menacing creature. Its Viral Vines exhibit their own health pool and turn cycle, ensuring its sustained power. The creature's Hungering Hulk ability slowly spreads corruption, overtaking the surroundings with eerie voidal growth. By consuming biomass, the corruption expands, spawning new tendrils and further enhancing its influence. The Kyphret Vine's arsenal includes the Tendril Slam, a devastating attack within an eight-meter range, and the repulsive Bloody Bile that not only inflicts damage but also hinders healing effects. Its Ballistic Bile unleashes projectiles of bile, raining down upon targets and potentially spawning additional tendrils. Lastly, the creature can consume nearby tendrils to heal itself, reinforcing its resilience in the face of adversity.

Drops

  • Tendril Vine
This sample of a tendril is alive even after being severed, but cannot move. Its fluids can be used for alchemical solutions to mutate things.
The mutation provides a temporary stat boost or drain to physical stats (Str, Def, Agi)
The mutation lasts for D3+3 rounds in CRP.
  • Gnawing Glob
This sample of the central body of the Kyphret Vine is alive even after being severed, gnashing its teeth. This glob explodes with a strong enough impact, spreading this monster’s voidal growth in a 10 meter area and spawning d3 tendrils with 5 hp each. These tendrils can attack in a 8 meter range, dealing 2d3 damage. They have no drops, and will attack any living thing it can reach including those who used the Gnawing Glob.
  • Bloody Bile
This sample of the central body’s fluids is a living infection. It can be used for alchemical solutions that negate benefiting from healing effects.
  • Vile Tusk
This sample of the Kyphret Vine’s teeth carries the properties of its bloody bile, it can be used to create weapons that negate benefiting from healing effects for no more than one round.
