== Introduction ==
A frost phoenix is a legendary, mythical avian creature that lives high up north in the ancient mountain range. It is a giant bird that has deep blue feathers, overgrown with ice to the point of it looking like a bird sculpted out of ice. The ice blue bird itself is around two meters tall, the size of an elf.  They have claws at their feet that are so big that they could grab a person. A frost phoenix' birth is a magical event that needs the assistance of a person in order to birth the youngling. A phoenix will therefore contact an individual to birth her egg. Only once per decade an egg is laid. In order to hatch the egg, the chosen person will have to complete a ritual. The chosen will have to cause the formation of a blizzard, since only there the egg can hatch in. This can be done through magic, or the usage of various items and relics. Once a frost phoenix is born, it will fly off further north, beyond the ancient mountains, or stay with the chosen person and the mother will allow the person to raise the youngling.

== Description ==
A frost phoenix sits on high mountaintops or in deep snow fields in the far north. They are always seen alone, and even rarer decide to take a flight and fly south. The frost birds don't contact the world south of them, unless they lay an egg. A frost phoenix is way more intelligent, but also more violent and dangerous than their fiery counterpart, the fire phoenix. They can make people aware of their will by only using their mind, essentially 'speaking' with them. A frost phoenix will fly on the snowy fields in the north and hunt for the small worms under the thick layer of snow, but they can survive very long without food. Frost phoenixes sleep on their high mountaintops, far away from the races of Eden.
Descriptions of the sky-tinted phoenix are often secluded to the personal memoirs of certain Aeri'cill's that curry the creature's favor, the cold avian being described similar to its fiery counterpart though with the scent of verglas. Unlike the burning feathers of your familiar phoenix, the frost phoenix's wings appear like glass, its deeper plumage taking on a mint blue color. These sharp-witted songbirds are frozen to the touch capable of causing frostbite on contact, and are often confused with the legendary Silver Phoenix, hunting companion of Kharash.

A frost phoenix may attack intruders to their domain in the snowy tundra, and then they might fly down from their high mountains and try to grab you with their claws or attack while airborne. Whenever you are fighting a frost phoenix on the ground, it will use its ice sharp wings to attack you as well. Frost phoenixes are very intelligent and magical, and they might summon ice storms or cast ice shards from their wings, the shards dealing slight damage and both the storm and shards will freeze you in place.

A frost phoenix might drop one of their deep blue, iced feather if they parish. This feather could be used to change weather and channel storms or allow it to snow even in the summer. An ice shard, coming off from the wing of a frost phoenix. This is a very powerful magical artefact filled with arcane energy. It is a stronger material than a gemstone and it is so cold that it cannot be molten. Such a shard is mostly used as a trophy, but it could also amplify a mages ability to cast spells and use the energy from a tear.

Introduction

Born from the Aros realm and hidden at the highest levels of Eseron’s atmosphere flies the legendary frost phoenix, witnessed only by the most diligent and faithful astronomers. This is the rime blue phoenix of lore, who inspired not just the Azari’cill but all those who have looked upon it.

Description

Descriptions of the sky-tinted phoenix are often secluded to the personal memoirs of certain Aeri'cill's that curry the creature's favor, the cold avian being described similar to its fiery counterpart though with the scent of verglas. Unlike the burning feathers of your familiar phoenix, the frost phoenix's wings appear like glass, its deeper plumage taking on a mint blue color. These sharp-witted songbirds are frozen to the touch capable of causing frostbite on contact, and are often confused with the legendary Silver Phoenix, hunting companion of Kharash.

Behavior

The hoarfrost crane is an incredibly astute being with greater intelligence than your average phoenix. With it has come a curiosity that lends to its frequent visits to surface levels during Lilith's Veil, soaring within the northern regions of Eden to study prey and potential predators alike. It is infrequent that it will choose to fight, often opting to flee at the first sign of aggression to the higher atmospheres. Although, it has been possible to melt the bird's heart with a similar display of intelligence and tact. Willing to check up on those it has discerned is worthy of its time.

Habitat

While the frozen phoenix spends most of its time in the frigid upper atmosphere, far enough to be hardly visible with a telescope, one can sometimes run into the bird when it’s using snowfall to cover its curious inspection of the lower heights. However, these phoenixes can be caught unawares when the time has come for their rebirth. The bird rests in the peaks of Eden’s Spine to shed its crystal feathers. Some historians even claim the first snowfall of Lilith’s Veil is often marked by the rebirth of a frost phoenix. Rarely has it been known for the phoenix to rest near those who’ve earned their trust, expecting them to defend their rebirth.

Abilities

Movement: Phoenixes are known to move with the appearance of a comet, rarely ever gracing the ground lest they intend to be reborn. They fly swifter than any humanoid race in Eden can hope to run (2d6+8 agi).

Icy Talons: A snowbird's talons are cold and sharp like a dagger made of ice, cutting its way through defenses and causing frostbite upon the flesh (2d2 + Burn) of those who covet the youthful snow of any unsuspecting phoenix.

Preserved Rebirth: A phoenix can never be slain; upon reaching the end of its life (0 HP), it will simply return to snow. However, within a short period (3 rounds), this snow reaches below zero and shatters outwards (4d3 damage, frozen III), and from it comes the phoenix reborn to flee back into the atmosphere.

Drops

- Crystal Feather

The legendary feather of the frost phoenix appears similar to a shard of ice, however, what makes it distinct is its inability to melt. Often the feather is sought out by high ranking officials and merchants as a delicacy. Capable of keeping food and other goods cold even in the heat of Eden’s Shine.

- Phoenix Ash

The rare ashes left over from the rebirth of a legendary phoenix. Sold for a high price, these ashes are reserved primarily for the high class due to their cosmetic uses. Adding phoenix ash to one’s facial treatment is said to melt away the years of age, and give a new radiant glow to the skin comparable to turning back the clock.
