The majestic elephant is a sight to behold, with its massive size and distinctive features that make it one of the most recognizable animals in the world. In the Delorwaki Savannah, and even more rarely in the Jungle of Spiders, these gentle giants roam freely, foraging for food and taking care of their young. An adult elephant can stand up to 10 feet tall and weigh as much as 20 large boulders, making them one of the largest land animals in the world. Their distinctive features include their long trunks, which they use to grab food and water, and their large, floppy ears that help regulate their body temperature. In the Delorwaki Savannah, elephants used to live in herds led by a matriarch, which is typically the oldest and most experienced female. These herds ranged in size from just a few individuals to over 100 elephants! Unfortunately, the elephants were hunted for their tusks and meat by the Orc and Goblins that settled in the Savannah and the population has since dwindled to almost non existence. Elephants are known for their close family bonds, and they will often go to great lengths to protect and care for their young. In the Jungle of Spiders, elephants are a rare sight, as they prefer the open grasslands of the savannah. However, there have been reports of elephants venturing into the jungle in search of food and water. Their massive size and strength make them a formidable opponent for any would-be predators, and their sharp tusks and powerful trunks are powerful weapons that they can use to defend themselves if necessary.

The complicated social system elephants have continues during their mourning behavior when a group member dies. When an elephant passes a deceased congener or parts of one they take pause. During this pause they’ll stay quiet and the elephant touches the remaining parts with their trunks. Sometimes tusks and bones will be carried with them by the elephants while continuing their travel.

Elephants are mostly peaceful animals, but if they feel threatened or feel in need to protect the others they’ll attack. If an elephant attacks you they’ll use their tusks to hurt you. They’re most likely to keep stomping until you’re dead. Elephants aren’t only very strong, but also very smart. They can do things like identifying languages, using tools, picking up on body language, showing empathy, imitating human noises and they have an amazing memory.

Introduction

The majestic elephant of the Savannah is a sight to behold. In the Delorwaki Savannah, and even more rarely in the borders of the Jungle of Spiders, these gentle giants roam freely, foraging for food and taking care of their young.

Description

An adult elephant reaches a height of around 4m. Its imposing size and tough ivory tusks are made to strike fear into predators, be they humanoids or from other species.

One of their most distinctive features are their long trunks, which they use to grab food and water, and their large, floppy ears that help regulate their body temperature.

In the Delorwaki Savannah, elephants were used to live in herds led by a matriarch, which is typically the oldest and most experienced female. These herds ranged in size from just a few individuals to an half dozen.

Unfortunately, the elephants have been limitlessly hunted in the past for their tusks by the Orcs and their population has since dwindled to almost non existence.

In the Jungle of Spiders, elephants are a rare sight, as they prefer the open grasslands of the savannah. However, there have been reports of elephants venturing into the jungle in search of food and water.

Their strength and thick skin still make them a formidable opponent for any would-be predators, but also the target of poachers looking for loot from all over Eden.

Behaviour

Elephants have a pretty complicated social system. Usually the female elephants lead a small herd while the male elephants are mostly solitary. The oldest female elephant is known as the "matriarch" of the group, that lead the group to the known places of drinking water or food available in drought seasons.

In the mating season, the solitary male elephants measure their strength by play-fighting or by sparring matches. This also depends on the size and weight of the elephant.

Elephants are smart animals and characteristically mourn the dead members of their herd on the place of their departure.

Elephants are mostly peaceful animals, but if they feel threatened or feel in need to protect the others they’ll attack without hesitation.
