Introduction

These berries are completely inedible but can be used as a combustible to start small fires, such as signal flames or campfires. Their seeds cannot be harvested due to how they explode, meaning they cannot be domesticated nor transplanted to other climates. They are easily recognizable by their fiery-red appearance, almost in the shape of a giant seed, and seem to contain an inner glow that is bright yellow.

Description

The texture of this seed is very rough, almost akin to that of a crust of bread, and it smells like hot ash and cinders, which is very unpleasant. These plants are very large for berries but still small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and are dry and crusty to the touch, almost like dry grass seeds except much larger. The pulsating yellow glow makes this plant warm to the touch and potentially rub off hot berry flakes onto the hands of those it touches. Upon impact with a hard surface, the berry will combust into a short flame. Still, it will extinguish very quickly without some way to keep the fire going, meaning this fire cannot be used as a weapon unless there is some accelerant in the vicinity to spread the flames. Often found near volcanoes, calderas, and hot springs, though they are fairly uncommon.

Usage

  • Firefruit
A consumable item that can start a small flame that extinguishes quickly. They are bright, fiery red in appearance and contain an inner yellow glow.
  • Seeds
Not hardy enough to grow outside of its natural regions. Otherwise, these seeds are only good for a spicy snack.
