Introduction

A minotaur is a powerful creature, whose species is as old as the continent, with thick skin and a skull as hard as steel.

These indomitable creatures are prone to violence and compensate for their meager intelligence with mighty physical strength and a resistance inferior only to that of a troll.

Undisputed rulers of the open Savannah, these creatures always return to occupy the territory of orcs and dwarves, with whom they usually both fight and enter into agreements of collaboration and mutual support, sometimes even military.

Habitat

The Savannah, The Underground.

Description

A minotaur is a heavily muscled humanoid creature with a taurine head and neck.

They have large horns that can be either light or dark to almost black. The puffing bull's head often has a more or less long beard and one or more earrings, on the nose and on the ears.

The Minotaur is generally armored, although they are not in the habit of polishing and taking great care of their equipment, as long as their axe is properly sharpened.

Behaviour

The minotaurs generally organize themselves in a patriarchal society where the males of the herd, with more pronounced horns and a more violent nature, carry out war activities, generally corresponding to most of their time, while the females look after and defend the offspring, which unlike many other species it needs a lot of attention and food.

They hunt for food in the Savannah, especially the great fauna like elephants and other herbivores.

They usually have a stable territory, although they sometimes migrate or expand into the adjoining plains of the Savannah.

They rarely trespass into civilized lands with anything more than explorers, as they understand human laws of land and warfare well, to the point that they often try to emulate them in their tribal context.

A Minotaur is a very stubborn creature and is often used to bear grudges with other societies even for generations. For this reason they’ve always been aggressive with spiteful goblins that sometimes cross their lands and can barely withstand them.

Minotaurs are organized in small clans of a dozen specimens. These clans do not have great differences seen from the outside, but for a minotaur, belonging to his clan is important and often tries to favor his respect to the other ones.

Clans may have an oligarchical organization with a ruling council of elders, or they may be a tyranny led by a single charismatic clan chief.

One of these clans, the so-called “Vigilhoofs” also served in Denur forces in a long forgotten distant past, and can understand some of their dialect. These particular minotaurs show a preference for complex, labyrinthine subterranean structures and enjoy hiding in the maze of ancient subterranean dwarven constructions.

In Combat

A Minotaur is a great fighter and an expert in both military tactics and war strategies. They usually hunt in a group of 2-3 but they can even form a warband of 5 when at war. In a fight they’ll charge straight ahead their opponents when there are no enemies within melee range, trying to flank their enemy or destroy their rear with outflanking maneuvers if possible.

They prefer giant two handed axes but they sometimes use steel warhammers as well.

Abilities

Charge: A Minotaur’s charge attack can hardly be avoided since its attacks are too strong and his blows too powerful. A minotaur must move at least 3m up to a maximum of a 12m line to use this skill, and trample everyone without being stopped; its attack roll will have a +4 bonus (+14 in total) and deal a total of 6 damage on hit. A charge is a full round action that involves both movement and attack. A Minotaur will only charge when there are no enemies in melee range.

Attack: A minotaur’s Greataxe or Hammer is a bit larger than a normal one and can deal 5 damage instead of 4. A minotaur either charges or attacks once per round.

Trample: A Minotaur can easily move over medium or large opponents, stomping them and dealing 1 damage. In the case he’s not charging he can be stopped after a won strength check against the creature.

Drops

Their Horns. A minotaur is an intelligent creature and could have personal items with itself.
