Introduction

Lacerta Aquae is the name given by Attian scholars to a drake species that’s used to living in the coastal regions south of Eden. They are otherwise known as ‘Blue Drakes’.

They are one of the most unique species among the Primal Dragons and mostly famous for their 3 heads and the ability to imprison their enemies inside large bubbles.

Habitat

Coastal regions south of Eden, Anjyarri desert(rarely).

Description

Unlike other drakes entirely Lacerta Aquae adorn 3 separate heads atop long necks on a singular body, and three different tails. Against what one may think, they also are not scaly and they instead bear thick, smooth skin, much like an eel.

They are larger than many other drake types: they normally are about 9m long. Water Drakes have evolved with the ideal build and features for swimming at high speeds: they have very few appendages or extras outside of their slick legs and tail; the legs only bear webbed toes and claws that they use for mobility. These drakes are built extremely smooth and streamline, with few fins, that are thin and able to fold in completely.

Water Drakes are mostly dark in color, ranging anywhere from deep dark blues upwards into grays and similar desaturated tones, due to the lack of sun they get near the bottom of the ocean. This coloring makes it very difficult to spot a Water Drake while it's in the water; the only telltale sign being their milky, reflective eyes beneath the surface.

Behaviour

Lacerta Aquae is a normally peaceful drake that fishes near the coast and hunts smaller animals, although it has no problems hunting large size animals on the land when it’s hungry.

When they encounter a ferocious enemy or an aggressive animal, they like to trap these creatures in a bubble and push it either into the sea or in the air. The creature will then plummet from a high altitude at some point and the Drake will be there to eat it after the fall. Along with their brutish size, Water Drakes in fact possess the unique ability to produce storms of bubbles or vomit water at incredible pressure and speed from their gut.

It sometimes happens that this species encounters its cousin, the Fire dragon, whose temperament is far different and way more aggressive. Since the Fire Dragon cannot be imprisoned in a bubble or simply repelled with their water pump breath, they usually fight over territories or preys, rarely originating proper bloody clashes in the Jungle or in the Desert.

To the surprise of many, Water drakes can’t live underwater and they need to breathe oxygen. They require coming to the surface approximately every 12 hours, or every 2 hours for roughly 5 minutes at a time. Their huge lungs are able to pressurize excess oxygen and store it in internal sacs. This large air storage is then slowly depressurized and used by the drake in his long immersions. Water Drakes sleep and make their dens in underwater or coastal caverns.

The fact that Water Drakes have large autonomy underwater and are largely unpredictable makes the task of calculating their schedule very difficult without sitting out on the water for hours. Their long necks, along with 3 heads, make it difficult to avoid attacks, but also makes decapitation an effective way to deal with them.

Their diet mostly consists of things like squid, shark and dolphin, among other large sea-dwelling prey. They will only occasionally hunt in the coastal lands, if their food grows scarce.

In Combat

Unless they fight a ferocious aggressive enemy, the Lacerta Aquae will imprison its enemy or simply repel him and flee. If angered, hungry or against enemies such as Fire Dragons, they will fight, trapping its enemies into bubbles and then kill the rest with their 3 bites. They’ll then push the bubbles into the sea or in the air to damage their victims.

Abilities

Three Headed:The Water drake can make three attack actions: one for each head. You can target a single head of this creature subtracting -5 from your attack roll. A Head has 7 hp. Lucerta Aquae dies when it loses three heads, yet it can regrow its heads in a month's time.

Bite: The Water Drake’s bite deals 3 damage (no roll).

Water Breath The Water drake can unleash a formidable water jet, dealing 1d2 damage to a target and pushing him away 10 m. The damage is doubled if the target is pushed against an obstacle. 3 times/battle or limitless in the water. This attack has no cooldown

Bubble Breath: Lucerta Aquae can produce giant bubbles that trap its enemies. Any enemy in a 10m cone (Large size or smaller) that doesn’t dodge the bubbles is trapped and starts floating. Bubbles are very resilient from the inside (almost unbreakable), due to a viscous fluid from the Water Drake, but they can easily pop from the outside dealing 1hp damage. Anyone, including the drake is able to push this bubble anywhere, 4 meters a push. The bubble naturally pops after 10 minutes.

Water affinity: The water drake can naturally move in water and have increased speed when in its element.

Draconic Immunities: This drake is immune to Aquamancy magic.

Drops

Almost any part of the drake is useful and can be retrieved by a skilled hunter. They usually make their dens in underwater or coastal caverns near the coast, where they pile a hoard of anything shining or valuable collected by them.
